Back from Europe!
Just had a great 3 weeks off, during which I took time holidaying around Europe, and attending CF along the way :)
Dublin - generally awesome, hopefully will be back next year to tour the Devil's Causeway. My main reason to get there was to visit Broome Bridge, to visit the birth place of quaternions!
Cardiff - the castle and museum are bloody good, and I had a day out to the docks that were really good.
Birmingham - CFz of course! I did take a day to visit Birmingham. I visited several cool museums, like a Pen Museum where you could make fountain pen nibs, Coffin Works, where they made parts for coffins and a few other places.
Le Noirmont - Visited to do a watchmaking course with Initium, it was bloody expensive, but well worth it! Learnt how to disassemble, then re-assemble an ETA Unitas 6497 movement, then later assemble a watch with it!
Cologne & Bonn - first time spending time in Germany properly. Bonn had some interesting places, visited Beethoven's house, the calculator museum (very cool) and one of the museums for a Bauhaus exhibit.
Rotterdam - bloody amazing modern architecture all over the place. Wish I had more time, wanted to do a cruise with the pancake boat and visit the windmills, but oh well. I also took a side visit to Breda to visit their Museum of Graphic Design. They'd a great exhibit on artist's impressions on Van Gough's work.
Apart from dealing with the jet lag, I've just got news (today!) that I can apply for my Canadian PR, so I'm fumbling about to get it all sorted. I've got a few photos from CF that I'll be going through once the PR application is dealt with.
