I think you should write regardless unless your only goal was to write for "the public reader".
Whether you publish your writings or keep it just to yourself might be worth another debate though.

Personally I'm also not a fan of AI (LLM/diffusion) but it won't disappear and honestly I'm looking forward to the day I get the opportunity to just steamroll someone on a project because they never developed any actual skills besides prompting an AI. Most of them probably heard that "it only guesses the next most likely word" but never understood the implications of that.

But it really depresses me when actual artists start using them or some people fine-tune them to replicate a certain artist's style.

the application i see that would actually make improvements is in things like being able to scan a document written on paper (i know some of the star trek types don't wanna admit it but there's a lot of us who really function better without having the "smart" tech forced on us for everything regardless of if we do still like it sometimes for some things) and accurately parse handwriting for digital archival and multi-system reference. that was the whole point; automating the necessity out of tedious and time consuming toil and tasks so people can get back to their lives quicker like the printing press had once upon a time when books were re-written word for word by monk scribes in monasteries by hand every time. perhaps putting the computer with only those instructions in charge was a bad idea if anybody really believes artwork to be something like that, rather than the expression of the experience of being alive and dreaming which it actually is. After all, those books are treasured today in large part for the unique way each scribe would pen and decorate their editions. All works of art, but ain't it nice to get a decent hardcover that was printed in a batch for a couple bucks on a whim too?
