bad hard drive.

Sooooo my computer finally failed. The hard drive gave out. This means my laptop will be out of commission till i can find the one i need to replace it. looks like ill be using my phone to watch streams and to keep up with FA.

if you got ~30$ for a new drive, or less if you get a used/refurbished one from ebay, you can search for "<your notebooks make and model here> replace harddrive how to", download windows 8 or 10 installation files legaly from microsoft and put it on a usb drive and you're probably set.

Also once you get the new drive it is easy to install but you will need a windows disk so you have an os but if you don't feel comfortable doing it your self, there are plenty of pc repair places and this is a really simple fix. Happened to me not more than 2 months ago but it was on my desktop i built which made it way easier. If you need some advice just ask!

I wish it was that easy for me. My computer won't load the cd or a usb install. I've even tried setting the boot priority for each one and still no luck.

weird did it boot up to bios? its a little weird for me because it is a prerbuilt laptop not a custom pc, and the bois on the laptop may be weird. but i will continue to look and see if i find a solution. this may help if you have no previous experience with this

thank you. I was able to get it booted up. I had to do a usb installation because it was also a pre made laptop as well. I had to configure the bios to boot the usb drive first. this was a night mare but also a learning experience. if my had drive gives me any more problems then im going to upgrade to a SSD instead.

no problem just glad you got it going again i know how it feels trying to a computer to work or anything in general, also a desktop is a better option for performance VS cost, i had to get a new laptop for college and paid as much for it as my desktop and do not get the same performance as i do on my desktop but the laptop is portable so give and take. Glad you got it going! it was a challenge for me to do it by myself the first time but i had a friend walk me though it.
