Can anyone identify this thing on our palm tree?

I have no idea what it is. I thought it was some sort of fungus at first, but I can't find anything like it on Google.

I'm guessing that's just the dried stalks of the fruit. Is that a date palm? They grow bunches of small yellow fruit that kinda look like cat-o-nine-tails, and they kinda look like that once the fruit falls off and the stalks die.

It's not a date palm, but I still have no idea what it is. I posted a picture of the whole tree on my Twitter.

Maybe not a date palm, but I still think it's most likely dried palm flower parts.
