Introspection: Human Art on Furaffinity
Been noticing more human art on FA since it got bought by IMVU. x3
Obviously, FA was in a difficult financial position and its partnership with with IMVU is preferable over FA ceasing to exist. However, I wonder if one day if FA will become another generic art website rather than furry focused.
I don't mind the odd human pic but it would be nice if FA let me filter out human art. Human can be interesting and I can enjoy but I'm not a fan of human art on what is a furry-focused website which I go to specifically for furry art.
That's why I sought out FA in the first place and prefer it over places like Deviant Art--because it's furry focused. If I wanted a generic website, I'd go to that rather than FA.
If I'm just looking for furry stuff that's all I personally want to see on a furry website.
It's not a big deal atm but I wonder what will happen over time if this trend continues. There's been a lot of new furry art websites over the last few years (ie. Weasyl, Furrynetwork, etc.). FA's remains my main furry art site for now but but there might come time that it's preferable for me to favor another furry art site over FA.
That's my two cents anyway.

I know I posted a few human headshots recently, and hope they didn't offend anyone. It's pretty rare that I draw human stuff for people because I'm bad at it. Definately not intend g to make it a habit.

No worries. :3 I'm tolerant and don't take offense to anyone posting human art. :3 Just saying I hope furry sites don't loose track of their original theme or else at least start offering a filtering option. Nothing wrong with deviating from the theme on occasion though. ^^

People would have to be pretty uptight and narrow minded to be actually offended by human artwork. Never feel you can't or shouldn't post artwork that you've made! Those who don't want to see it can simply not look at it.

I feel the same way about human subjects in the artwork here. Personally I don't care to see it and agree it would be nice if I could filter it out so it doesn't show up on the new submissions list. But in the absence of that, just as with any other subject matter, when I see it in the thumbnails I simply don't look at it. I don't even care for zoomorphic artwork (characters that are human except for some animal features, kinda the opposite of anthropomorphic). Anyway, any noticeable upswing in artwork with human characters is probably just a temporary trend since, as you pointed out, this is a furry-focused site, and as such people come here to see furry art, not human art. Not that there's no place for human artwork, of course; besides being furry-focused this is also an art-focused site and artwork of whatever quality shouldn't be prevented just because it has humans in it. But I tend to think that since people come here for furry art, human art would get less views and less faves, indicating to the artists what the viewers want to see and sort of driving the market.
