That's why it's called "honeypot", you're not supposed to know it's a trap. They know people are using their service to buy/sell adult content covertly, so the honeypot is set up to make those people reveal themselves.

Unless PayPal changed something in their TOS, I know that for years now they forbade using their services for selling/purchasing adult content and I am not the one to risk it right now, and neither are other artists.

Dude, countless artists have literally been using paypal for years and years without any issues whatsoever. If you don't believe me, go find 10 random artists, at least 9 will be using paypal and most likely none of them will report having trouble with it.

I decided to look it up further: technically, yes, you can sell adult content/goods with PayPal account; but it has to be a business type account and only if you partner with Epoch company for their billing system (which costs a fee, of course). Those with personal accounts are still under threat of having their accounts frozen/shut down if they use it to sell or buy adult content.

Another update, after doing more research; PayPal allows sale of physical adult content only, like sex toys which explains why Bad Dragon is able to use their services. Digital adult content is still very much forbidden per their TOS, which makes the supposed option you select on your business tab a definite honeypot meant to lure in those who did not read TOS.

No one is disputing the presence of said options Cro, I'm saying it doesn't mean shit. Paypal's ToS have not been changed in a very long time, it still has the same generic catchall stuff for anything sexual or obscene.

Let's make this easy: See how many people(if you can find any at all) who are getting frozen/banned from paypal after this, and post them in your journal. If you can find even 3 people by the end of July, I will literally hand you $20. (Over my paypal, which I have been using to buy furry porn for over 10 years without issue)

Is there a screenshot of this? I find it hard to believe and I even went into my Paypal to see for myself, but couldn't find anything like what you described.

It's a rather cleaver hoax as there's nothing on pay pals site or tos about it and there are more then a few adult related sites now that are pay pal friendly

Since I've hidden my own post, I will say that I have not seen the particular screen/drop-down combination that was pictured in the tumblr post (including the image I direct-linked to in my own hidden comment) in the screens of paypal when I went to look for it afterwards. If it is true, it is actually hard to find through normal PC use, but I'm starting to see contrary to this particular voice-of-caution. If it's something that can only be seen through "Classic View" (which I think is disabled currently?) or through a mobile viewer then there's not much to worry about.

The biggest part of this is just be VERY careful in what you do: using invoices, sending payments... don't get complacent in any of them.

I think that dropdown is only available for business type accounts, which is why you can't see it.

While the UI itself is negligible, what about the date listed? It's over 25 years old if it is real... but didn't paypal launch in 1998 (seven years after the screenshot)? Also, the phones during that time were not yet quite up to par either to take a screenshot like that until after 2000 (nine years after the screenshot)?

I think the date is meant to be the user's birth date, actually.

To me, without the link of that individual page for those drop-downs, there's too much missing information and if most of us regular users cannot reach this option, I wouldn't say there's too much fear needed in it. Hoax or not, if it takes this much effort and it can't be found through normal-user means, just keep to the mindset of "don't get complacent" when there.

I would be honest to say I played into the fear too as I put up a similar journal, but when I review back of it, I don't find anything that is truly supporting of the warning. If it is mobile (as from what the UI shows) and it's only available at making the account (from a lot of suspicions), all current users don't have anything to worry about.

It would be less "duping" and more towards warning "future users" if that is the case.

After having contacted pay pal over the phone I found out that ya it's not leget at all and that adult sites are pay pal customers they just don't support illegal activitys like furry porn which they view as besstality or under age art work and other illegal things bad icky things that don't violate is and international laws
