Aye - it was really amazing. Most conservation areas with man-made lacks tend to have murky waters, and also tend to be pretty simple in terms of the shape and layout of the water - this was far more unique:

I really enjoy the rare places like that with such clear water because you can see the fish swimming by and watch as your paddle dips in and down and slides gracefully out. It makes for very calming, good thoughts to sink back into during a stressful or busy day. :)

Aaah that's the place. ^^ Truly something to remember and to think of in times of stress.

I think I'd just look for a cozy place to sit and think, soaking up the quietness. ^^

I certainly do that as well. Introverts (of which I definitely am) always find peace and the ability to recharge when we can find a nice quiet place. :)

Oh man, kayaking is SO enjoyable. I find it very grounding. One of these days, I should try to write up an article for anyone interested in learning more about it.

I really enjoyed the sense of motion and scale in kclt's feature; you can really feel the impact that's been made, plus anticipate the one that's about to happen! Haha~

But my favorite this time around is Iggi's feature; crisp and beautifully sharp rendering, plus a really cool character concept -- I've never seen a cross-breed character of this type before! The design is just so cool! :'3

Yay - I'm late on catching up on replies! Heh, I'm glad my music stuff is actually working out for some folks. XD I suppose that's one advantage of being wildly varying tastes. :P And yes, Deer Creek was lovely - and like I said, I'm still quite pleasantly surprised about that. Finding a place where the water is pristine and clear is actually very rare - most rivers in Ontario are pretty muddy, and most man-made lakes are murky or algae-filled. I think the clarity of Deer Creek has a lot to do with the sand-dunes that the lake filled up; acts like a giant filter. That's the same affect that made the Old Asable in the Pinery really clear.

Great picks too! And yes, Iggi's lines are impeccably crisp and precise - even when you see some of her "sketches", it's like... wow... that is a pretty high quality sketch. XD

Yay for kayaking! As I said before, it just looks like such a beautiful place and such a healing, regenerating experience. Definitely something we all need more often. :) And yes, seeing that pawprint would make me squee constantly too. ;D

The Core is one of those ones I went and bought not long after you shared it with me the first time. ;) Such a cool tune with a really great driving feel to it. It's interesting for how it doesn't really feel all that complicated, there isn't a particularly complicated melody or anything, but it just WORKS really really well and conveys a really cool emotion.

3DiNoZ: Yes... glass floors are always a fun vantage point, particularly if it shows how the pads squish in when baring weight.

Rukis: The lace work alone was so amazing on this. The thing that shocked me was that she said this was a "risk" in that female art didn't sell as well at shows! I would have never guessed that; I thought male or female stuff sold pretty equally, I'd be curious to see how she did with it because wow, this is one of my favourite pieces by her.

Heh - I'm really enjoying HellCat's stuff since finding it! Very playful style, and definitely foot-centric. I know, I know... I keep giving you more people to watch - sorry!

Goodness no I don't see myself getting sick of your music tastes anytime soon! There are some I've liked more than others but by and large I find I share your tastes, and have dashed out to buy a fair few of the ones you've shared with me!

Very much agreed on all points, but yeah, especially what you said about Rukis' work. It's one of my favourites by her too I think, and that's a really high bar to begin with. She's been one of my favourite artists for quite some time.

Little reminders of friends and good times are important - particularly on a craft designed to let me relax and enjoy myself. Or... if I get caught in bad conditions on the lake and am fighting to get back safely (which has happened before), then it's inspiration - something to remember all I have to come back to. :)

Heh - good news on the music front! I just hope that I can keep providing good stuff. I find every year it gets harder and harder to find new songs that I like. And it's not for lack of trying! When I search sites like Beatpro, I will listen to, on average, over 500 songs, and usually only find 1 or 2 decent ones that actually took some thought and talent to make. With so many people able to create music today, we have more choices than ever before, but we also have a lot more garbage to sift through to find the few rare gems. :P

*nods* Rukis has long been a favourite of mine as well - would love to get her for a Paw-Post highlight but it has been very difficult to get a hold of her.

That's one thing I really enjoy about you sharing the music highlights, is that exposure to new music for me. I too don't tend to be grabbing much new stuff lately. Just tricky to find things that appeal, and hard to know where to find the sort of things I like really.

I can definitely get what you mean about Rukis... I very much get the sense that she has an awful lot going on in her life!

Nah - doesn't happen too much - I try very much to keep an eye on the marine forecasts. But on Lake Erie, the conditions can change in just minutes. On one paddle in 2012, it went from 4" waves to 4 to 6 foot waves in the span of about 15 to 20 minutes. Not forecast, of course. When you're 4km from port, you just gotta paddle through it.

Well at least I can help out with the music stuff then in much the same way as good paw pics. XD

*nods* Rukis makes a living out of furry stuff, so yeah, it's a 24/7 thing for her, and I think involves some seriously long hours. As such, I certainly don't pry much about it.

Mmmf I can imagine, yeah. The Great Lakes are wonderful but can be rather treacherous in their own way... I remember my dad telling me how, being fresh water, the waves can come closer together than in the ocean, and things are less buoyant. Wow, that's a huge change in a short span of time, I could really see that being dangerous! Glad you got through it okay!

*nods* Yep, though the less-buoyant factor is very tiny as there's not that much of a density difference between salt water and fresh water. The shallowness of lake Erie is what can cough up such sudden, violent waves. In fact, to VERY much prove the point, a photographer from right here in London, Ontario, took these pictures of Lake Erie in Port Stanley, EXACTLY where I often kayak:

Now, granted, he went on windy November days, but still, shows you how insane the lake can get when the right wind starts to kick it up.

Yeah, Erie's always the oddball in that regard... I definitely remember studying how that impacted the Lake Effect too; being shallow so it warms and cools more quickly, and being oriented east-west along the path of most weather fronts, which is all why Buffalo NY gets hammered so hard in the winter. Makes sense that it could change that quickly, too!

Yep yep. I think it's all the crazier that I've kayaked like RIGHT over where those were taken. Mind you, if I got to the lake and it looked like that, I'd be like "NOPE!" XD
