I don't remember reading the story, so I couldn't say.

Based on the name "claw" alone though, I feel it should be something cold, or even gelatinous - maybe even epileptic.

Cold is good, but I'll need to think of things!

Old Japanese or Chinese Prints also feel right if you go snowy, like, He seems like He could be your atypical Mountain-dwelling Yaoguai.

The fur especially, sells this feeling, plus the robe...

From the picture I've seen, Claw strikes me as fitting well into a Bloodborne-esque environment, perhaps something like the Nightmare of Mensis.

What kind of personality do you have planned for him? To me he looks like a possibly shy and shuttering creature who's always out of sight. Perhaps a visual of him looking through a plane of glass in an abandoned building/castle? Or maybe an embroidered portrait with him sitting in a chair with a straight posture and some old-timey clothing looking casually at the viewer paired with some fancy brass looking borders around the edges of the screen. Didn't mean to go so heavily descriptive, but that's just what i'm personally envisioning.
