Personally id recommend the Rx 480 to the gtx 970, it's cheaper but is the same powerhouse as it since that's what amd is going for and also it's a brand new GPU

Gtx 970 -$300

Another thing I'd recommend is looking on Newegg for cases, they have rebates and you can usually score a deal at times plus the reviews are a bonus cause not every case is equal and usually have issues.

Also you should add a ssd and put your os on it for faster start times and all your art programs for faster loading and rendering. $30-40 for a 120gb is big enough since that'll be it's main purpose. The 2tb HDD will be main storage.

Also do you really need a DVD drive? If you have one already in your pc just salvage it and reuse it. You can always download all the drivers via internet or USB

Also you're forgetting the Os :v that's 90-100$

Just wait a bit I guess for the rx480 to appear on the market, they're out there. People do own them just sold out since they're super new.

Only difference with the 1060 is it's a little faster then a 980 but consumes less power and would cost around $200-250 depending on what version you get..

Also I'd recommend a different case, reviews for it are pretty mixed on it, HDD bays are non removable so you get lousy air flow, maybe your GPU is to long so it won't fit or to tall it hits the panel door. USB connectors are placed oddly and very inconvenient if it's on your desk plus you'd have to re arrange the wires since they placed them oddly when they assembled it. Won't fit certain water cooling radiators.it has a front panel door for.. front dust filter is non removable..

Frankly I'd recommend a better brand like corsair or something even diypc are good cases. Doesn't hurt also looking for a dual compartment case since they give your pc a cleaner look and separate the psu heat from the actual hardware compartment.

Really check newegg out, theyre the only ones to have the best deals available on their app on smartphones. Plus you don't have to pay any tax on anything (depending on where you live, only 3 states tax)


Also Amd is actually coming out with their new Zen series FX Processors this October including their new socket am4 , comparable to intel i7.

But I heard they're gonna cost the same as intel since Amd stated ' they're getting out of being the budget company and more performance'.. which is gonna be lousy and good at the same time.

Dump the 970 and either get the 1070 or wait a couple weeks for the 1060 (which is as powerful as the 980 but will only cost $250). You are getting scalped at that price for the 970.

I'm seeing the 1070 at 460$ which is pretty high compared to what I have in the list now. Regardless, I'm going to be waiting to buy the video card last since the price may go down after the 1060 is released.

I got my 1070 for an even $400 on Newegg, though it looks like it is sold out.

If you aren't looking for a super powerful GPU, I have a used Radeon 7950 that has served me very well the last couple years, and I would still be happy with it if VR wasn't so GPU intensive to force me to upgrade. It runs 60 fps on most modern AAA games on high settings. I was planning on sticking it on Ebay or Craigslist.

But before I do that I've been asking people I know if they are interested in buying it at a discount, unfortunately everyone I know either has no need for a more powerful GPU or already has a gaming GPU.
