Did you try a linux live CD? Unless your hard drive was encrypted your files should be recoverable.

with having to reformat it its all gone I am certain
my backup drive was wiped also

Maybe I should make a snuggle little Raspberry Pi based storage cluster? 2 hdd's , and some electronics, all in an inconspicuous standard PC case, providing yo uwith a RAID 1 mirroring backup ( i.e. both HDDs have the same contents ), and would allow you to either make a windows based backup-service or allow you to just regularly use the folders of the networked HDDs.

You need a small 2x HDD network box.

Something like a ZYXEL NSA325 or a QNAP TS-212P would be absolutely sufficient. Jack in two same-sized hdd's and it becomes totally irrelevant how much Mickeysoft rapes your computer.

In any case you could go and use an external USB HDD and make windows make regualr ( daily ) backups to that drive.
