Rising from the ashes! Here comes a new fowlgon
9 years ago
Hello!
Things are changing. I got a new job! Working as a picture framer, printer, graphic designer at the local framing shop. It's a hugely successful business, so I'm in a very stable situation at the moment.
It's pretty clear I have been doing terribly with art this year. It has been constant backlogs for 15 months. Every time I got close to clearing it, new bills came in and I had to fill up again. The backlog really overwhelmed me. Most days I couldn't even look at photoshop without feeling overcome with responsibility and breaking down. Apart from being really busy with my outside life at the same time. I couldn't even perform everyday tasks without feeling guilty. "I have to get back to my art!" Then I would stare at the screen, unable to work on the art. This happened because I initially took on too many art projects. Bit off more than I could chew. It was a constant battle to keep up, and the pressure was too much.
Now that I have some income entering the bank, the problem is solved! I have contacted many clients and will refund most of my commissions. There are only three images left to complete. These are:
-Full illustration snow scene with a black jaguar
-The 14 character action poster YCH (Progress)
-A 30x40cm acrylic painting of a forest ambush
They will all be very fun to work on and will be higher tier pieces. They should be portfolio quality.
It was a hard thing to approach clients and admit defeat. I was afraid to anger and disappoint people. I didn't want to keep them waiting forever either. But in the end, everyone has been very understanding and supportive! A huge weight and burden has been lifted!
The last thing I have left to do is to re-establish the romance in art. I need to love it and feel excited by it again. Therefore I will do some art studies and personal art for a few days. Once my art is beautiful again and the love returns, I will be able to finish the last three commissions and return to good health!
Thank you all for being so understanding and helpful. The furry community really can be the most incredible place!
TL;DR:
-I got a new job
-I had backlog for 15 months
-The burden was crippling
-Now I can refund art
-I need to do art studies before the remaining three commissions

I know that might sound strange at first, but think about it. While you can't overcome the obstacles in place now, one day you will and when that happens it will be on a level of enlightening.
If nothing else, it's good to hear that everything is going smoothly now!
This is true. It will be a great day when that happens
Well, it's shaping up to finally go smoothly :P Thanks!
Good luck to you! :)
Thanks :D
