Tablet preferences?
9 years ago
I'm sad to say that I think my Wacom bamboo splash tablet may be going out on me. It keeps disconnecting from the laptop, the connector is loose, etc. It's my very first tablet and I've always wanted something a little more fancy/on the pricier side in hopes that it would last longer than this one. For my artist buddies, what upgrade would you recommend I go with or look into?

Drawing on it feels good, and I've tried different nibs but always seem to default back to the regular ones. Setup was easy but fine tuning Wacom's software to cooperate with two monitors and have a circle be a circle rather than an oval was a bit of a challenge too which I solved by changing settings and using a coin
But I know plenty of artists use a simple S sized cheap ass tablet and draw the most insane stuff out of it. Find something that looks like you could get accustomed to it, read reviews and watch unboxings, keep in mind the thought "What tool looks like I can master it the best" because I think mastery of your tools is what makes the artist! I've seen it in construction workers that work three times harder with outdated tools, and instructors that explain an hour long digital read in 5 minutes on whiteboard, sorry for the rant, hope it helps!
I know people that use the Cintiq products really seem to like it for its paper like quality in terms of being able to see what you draw, downside for some being the glass panel, but some like it because of the feel.it differs with pencil tips too of course but keep in mind your preferences for price, efficiency, your fondness of particular texture or lack of feedback texture, smoothness and so forth. As well as size, adjustability and scale.
Fyi my tablet was discounted at the time for 255, not sure if they run higher by default or if they've dropped but it's considered a luxury electronics device by tax so probably no price drops yet.
Sorry for the big read xD <3
Edit: typos, late-night phone post ;n;
Look at what looks nice to you. Figure out what your add on choices are and see what you find, but look at experiences and opinions too.
And remember sometimes less is more!
But if you are looking for some options at a reasonable price, then I will be more than happy to help you out on that, if you would like? :3
I'd be happy with the help, however ^-^
