So far MST3K Reboot from Kickstarter is the most I have given to any Kickstarter to date right now.
I pledged about $500 in total to bring it back I wanted it that badly. xD
And from the RiffTrax/MST3K Reunion Jonah the new guy has some great potential. :)
Here's hope that Netflix sees a good thing happening and carries forth investments into sequel seasons.
They even got some returning cast members! That's awesome.
If there's one thing I don't get, it's the price tag per episode. OK. Got to rent a studio. Not like they had to rent in the Ritzy side of the world, though. Cast and crew do need to be paid. Guess there's the rights to use the movies. But, it's not like they're trying to share rights to the Terminator, here. The whole fun is in these being filler films that maybe get a second chance on some 100-in-1 combo box from the $19.99 drop bin. Originally, the sets were rigged from hobby store plastic models. I guess the sets need catering. But it sounds like they went for caviar and T-Bone steaks over hot dogs and bland coffee. I get needing great cameras, mixer boards, stage lights...the whole nine yards on that stuff. But, the budget from day one should carry over on all that. Guess I'm just saying that this show should reside above something like 'Whose Line is it' and 'Survivor'. But, maybe should not be surpassing a staged comedy half hour on prime time. I just don't understand where all the money goes.
Have to make all the old bots and some new bots as well.
And pay some of the cameos from actors like Mark Hamel and other big names. :)
It adds up a lot and even though pinball repairing is different then tv stuff a repair job that I thought was only going to be $50 turns out to be $10,000 instead. o.o
We, the fans, want our MST back. And we should get our MST back. But, should the Satellite of Love should remain somewhat cheesy instead of having The Death Star, The Enterprise and the Battlestar Galactica parked outside for an Epic Space Battle.
Sure, we're all expecting something a bit higher then the first season, where they were literally using anything they could find for the budget and the control booth of that little station as apart of their set. ( https://youtu.be/0S66KAW4zmQ ) There's also overreaching for unnecessary quality. There's obtaining a box of spare parts and figuring out how to make it work and there's custom ordering the top quality parts that may reside in ten warehouses on Earth and everyone knows it. There's remaking Crow out of a few catcher's mitts and random bits and then there's 3-D printing an army of Crows with solid gold external coating and being manned by Mark Hamel. I'm just in the belief that they aren't thinking like rigging things on a budget. But are aiming for those custom, hard to find parts that only this one particular model of pinball machine demanded to be used.
If that mark of high quality nets them sequel seasons...it was worth it. Can't argue that at all. But, if they're just doing this for luxurious sets, unnecessary guest stars and major profits over the love of the idea...well...
Besides, the set should be built on the opening budget and carry over, just like the equipment. But, I remember catching that each episode had some lofty money goal that ranged over...was it a million dollars? I just get that Little Me vibe. (Oh, behave.)
