Gonna share my thoughts here, since it's a controversy that I'm actually qualified to gab about.

Loved the hell out of it. Went in not knowing what to expect, because I have more important things to do than sort out the misogyny from the genuine criticism, and I was happily surprised. When it wanted to be funny, it was funny. When it wanted to be tense, it was tense. When it wanted the girls to kick ass, by god did they. It was in the same spirit of the original movie, but they took it further and had fun with it. Honestly, I think I like it better than both the older ones. I highly recommend going to see it! Well worth the money.
