A terrible world with small sanctuaries is where my happiness lies. So I'm doin the thing! Imma try to do this once a week, and this is the basic format it'll follow. I sectioned it off so you can just read whatever you want. Comments are helpful as they're the only way I know people read any of this, nothing profound necessary.
Personal art journey
Past few weeks I've been trying to take my time and study human anatomy in terms of art from top to bottom. Right now I'm at the deltoid/trapezius. One of the hardest things I find though is not using or over-accentuating a muscle after studying it. Especially with more traditionally feminine or lithe features (and depending on style), it's actually proper to smooth out some muscles to non existence as definition is softened by fat. I'm gonna keep working at it though and try to keep in mind that the knowledge of how to draw those muscles have their place.
Art tip
When it comes to drawing hands, it sometimes helps to first draw the hand where you want it, then figure out how the arms are going to connect to it. It's pretty helpful when you already have a clear idea for a pose down because most of the poses you think of should probably be physically possible. Just watch out for the tilt/rotation of the hand as what you may have in mind for a pretty spot for the hand may not be the most natural position, so always double check by taking on the pose yourself.
Personal life
Since it's summer and my usual day jobs of tutoring are out, money is pretty tight. Luckily as some of you know I sometimes assist in running an anime/Renaissance accessory booth at conventions and festivals in the tri-state area. So yesterday I was running the stand in the Detroit Eastern Market for a mini Renaissance thing. It was neat, even got a tip for being "beautiful"...alright owo;;;; But there was also a little 13y.o. girl going around for hours looking for work or change from people so she could afford a dress. She was only $7 short at one point so I gave it to her and she came back to show it off. She looked really pretty in it, so it made me happy ^-^
