Gene Deitch's Tom and Jerry Review

The usual cat-and-mouse hijinks, but on a creepy and sadistic way.
O Gene Deitch, what have you forsaken us? This franchise of 12 cartoons, isn't good. Why? Let's find out...
THE GOOD:
The only good one is 'The Tom and Jerry Cartoon Kit'.
THE BAD:
Where to start? The animation in the H-B and Chuck Jones cartoons are great, simple, and crisp like a cookie. But in Gene Deitch's take on normal Tom and Jerry is poor, awful, wretched, and terrible. Tom Cat and Jerry Mouse is wonkily drawn, and Gene's direction style does NOT fit 'Tom and Jerry'. The music on the Filmation (an improvement over the Gene Deitch ones), H-B and Chuck Jones' cartoons were good, well paced and (for the Filmation ones) well synthesided. But on Gene's cartoons were creepy, horrifying and very sadistic. Heck, Filmation's synth music is better than the Gene ones, because is tamer, but this type of music is horrifying. The sound effects in the HB, Filmation and Chuck Jones cartoons are good, and a feast to your ears, but here is bizzare, somewhat horrifying, ear-bleeding and could your stomach churn. Also, some of these sounds are very poorly placed, especially the pirate's peg-leg on one short. And, all 12 stories does NOT fit Tom and Jerry. Tom and Jerry on a safari? Tom and Jerry in space? Jerry spoofing the MGM logo? Tom and Jerry in Greek? Tom and Jerry performing 'Carmen'? WHAT?! Also, in all of these 12 abominations, you'll be sorry for poor ol' Tom. Jerry's behaviour is not good, because he treats Tom Cat like his owner, and sometimes sadistic, cruel and mean to him. The gags and violence are not funny. It's sickening, and disturbing, like in the 'Sorry Safari' (sure is sorry, all right!), witch has a lion roaring in the beggining, with one of the most FRIGHTNING roars you'll ever hear. And all of the 12 stories, like I said, does NOT fit Tom and Jerry's default and usual hijinks.
In overall, these series of poorly animated, horrifying, disturbing, sickening, and gross cartoons is the ONE you can LARGELY skip. Want something better? Put the modern Tom and Jerry, Hanna-Barbera Tom and Jerry, Chuck Jones Tom and Jerry and even Filmation Tom and Jerry cartoons to tame of your minds with the sickly disturbing Gene Deitch cartoons, with the exception of 'The Tom and Jerry Cartoon Kit'.
