Absolutely Angry

"It's OK to be a glowstick. Sometimes we have to break before we can shine." - Unknown
Sunday, I came home from :KaylenKylar:'s place to find a note from animal control. On the tag it had "No displayed rabies tag" underlined in a list of issues, with the notes that someone had called and left a complaint.
OK, fair enough. He pulls the dangling tags off faster than a magician does a card trick. I called the number on the tag first thing Monday morning and left a voicemail for one of the officers who came out with Xy's vaccine tag #, expiration date, and the vet who administered it, as well as my phone number in case they needed anything else. I think the story is Over.
Find out that my neighbor actually talked to the officers while they were here. They said they were called out on complaint of a starving husky.....Now...I have pictures of my dog from that weekend on my phone. Looking at body index scores, he's 100% in the ideal range. Now I'm mad, because the speculation is that they called out of spite. There's an almost 50 year old fight going on over the dirt road we live on because of a dirty handed developer who sold land behind us. The short story is, people are confused on road maintenance responsibilities and we have an issue right now that they don't want to properly fix (or fix at all) and we think they called either because we aren't responsible for fixing the road and thus not helping them, or because the dog was mistaken for being the neighbors (part of the problem).
Today, one of the officers calls me back. He told me that there was a complaint from a woman (who wished to remain anonymous, of course) about a husky who was:
starving
dehydrated
matted fur
seriously ill
Now I'm angry. Very angry. Yes, Xy is blowing his coat and looks a bit rough, but walk up to him and you can tell he is none of those things. And yes, he does have health issues, but nothing we haven't talked with our vet about. None of them are visible though, unless you know the dog enough to tell he's not as active as he used to be or as active as other huskies would be (heart murmur and he's going on 6 yrs old). The officer even told us they walked around for a bit and couldn't see anything wrong other than the lack of rabies tag.
I love Xy, and we take care of our animals. To have someone try to claim my dog is in terrible condition when he is obviously taken care off is one of the most angering things I've dealt with in a while.
