Car troubles distracting me from my money troubles

My car got pretty banged up by a hail storm a few weeks before RMFC. The entire body is dented and the windshield has several large cracks. My insurance company estimated the repair costs at around $4,400, but a mechanic said it would cost more than twice that. I opted to just have the hood and windshield replaced for $1,260.
I was told the insurance company would likely consider my car to be totaled since more than two-thirds of the body was damaged. That seems extreme for some easily-repairable hail damage. If they want to see what a totaled car really looks like, here's my last car after I was in a major accident in 2005:

Last week, I noticed one of my headlights was burned out. I brought it into the shop, where they found one of my brake lights was also out. Luckily replacing them only cost $55.
If/when I can save enough money, I'd love to move into a house/townhome with a garage. That and owning my own radio and/or TV station are my biggest goals.

Yeah, hail storms are pretty wicked over there at times. I mean you do have to own a car if you're work is pretty far away. I'm just wondering if you can take the bus. That would save you a ton of money and you don't have to be liable if another hail storm comes and damages the bus, hehe.
