One thing about Anthrocon is that while it's the biggest furry con, if it were an anime con it would be considered small. The pitfalls are similar from what I've seen. At larger cons there's more to do, but you're less likely to run into friends just walking around and there never seems to be enough time to do everything. I tend to get bored easily at smaller anime cons, but don't have that problem with furry cons. I think that is because even at smaller furry cons I still know way more attendees than at a large anime con.

When I'm in town for a furry con I rarely go far from the hotel for food. At AC that means heading across the street to Fernando's (a sandwich place) or the Steel City Diner. Other than those two spots I maybe look up a sushi place and go there once.

I've never been to anthrocon. But. the thing you can expect is. Everyone is into the same thing. So have fun man :) Not like you're going to be alienated. Hell i've gone down to Gamesday in baltimore and that place must have had more then any anthro con has ever had. Because i mean. Warhammer 40,000? Thats a lot of people that'd go there for playing, competitions, lowered prices of stuff >:3 you can be sure you'll meet up with some nice people and enjoy the time. When typically at a con. They usually have some kinda food bar at the convention hall. Gamesday did in baltimore at least. If not. just walk across the street on over the burger king :D

It's great to know there's at least some restaurants in the area. I'm rooming with 3-4 other people and I wanted to be sure I was able to get food if I needed to, as I won't have a car. In years past I've gone to AnimeIowa, and we were isolated from pretty much everything. -Nobody wants to be with the guy that always wants to go for lunch.

We'll have to see about food at the center, or if the hotel has a consuite. AnimeIowa used to really have a good one so it varies quite a bit. My greatest hope is that I can meet some really cool people, work on some art trades, and see who I can find in artist alley.

It's going to be great, I know. I *really* hope I can get to Max in time before he's booked for commissions! I'd love to get him to draw Zig for me.

It's a very big con and there's a lot to do. Unfortunately, that's a big weakness too - sometimes, it's hard to find someone that you're looking for.

Anyway for food, be sure to check out Primanti Brothers. They make a very good sandwich that's the local specialty. And don't bother asking for a side of fries - they put it in the sandwich!

Sadly Pittsburgh is an industrial town and the convention center is far away from any real "residential" locations. Your best bet is to order food in to your hotel room or there's an in-hotel restaurant that's not too bad. There's a few places if you have a friend with a car you can get to that aren't bad but the city streets can get pretty confusing at night and it's real easy to get lost in that city. XD


if you were at say, MFF I could recommend a list a MILE long of fantastic places to eat. I swear I go to MFF for the food as much as I do the company XD

MFF was definitely on my list of cons to go to, I might wind up there this year, or maybe Further Confusion. If I wind up going, I'll send you a note.

I've been to other conventions before where the nearest place to eat is a several miles away. I figured Pittsburgh to be an industrial town, but at least I'll be able to get around to get something to eat if I want to.

If you've ever had to deal with
"no cell phone guy" or "what about lunch guy" (I'm neither) you know what it's like dealing with roomates. I've never been there, so it's just good to know that I won't be a pest to my roomies.

well if MFF stays where it is now, it's across the street from a (albeit pricey) but VERY tasty old-world let mamma-feed you style italian restaurant called Bucca di Beppo as well as several other fairly high-end eateries around. IF you've got friends (like pandas) who drive to MFF and have a car, then you have access to a Fuddrucker's, Panda express, aaand several other places I can't remember right now XD
