How Adotables works?

From what I know I can draw any character I want and the adoptable basically means I 'sell' this character for a person to use it in way we agreed, right?
Can the price of the Adoptable character increase if it has a backstory/bio?
Or it depends in the how well it drawn?
Do people still buy adoptables?
The usual price for adop.character is 5 bucks, right?
Adop.characters can be sexy/sexual as well as cute, yes?

FA+

And 30 bucks is usually justified if you offer a quality design using your own linework and no base.
But yes, as you may have gathered from research, artists using bases for adopts usually sell them at low prices simply because the lines are used again and again so there's a lot of similarily shaped adopts out there, which can make them less interesting for people.
Many don't seem to come with narrative information but they do range from feral to anthro/ sexy to cute.
If you're looking to make some money, sexy anthro seems the way to go, if its just for fun your options are limitless.
I've not ventured into the adoptable business myself so I might be talking baloney, however.
Additionally, the quality of "Batches" and variance within can vary even more.
Some just make a frame and colour in the lines.
Others draw each char unique.
Also, while some name the chars (and allow the buyer to rename them) some do give them bio and backstory, though they also allow the buyer to disregard it since the Design is usually the adopt part.
They do wildly different designs and let the buyer come up with the backstory and character themselves. Also, I recommend trying to go under 20 bucks.

Usually, there are no rules or just "Don't use for commercial purposes" since most buyers dislike having limitations on their characters.
Can the price of the Adoptable character increase if it has a backstory/bio?
You can if you want, but personally I wouldn't raise the price for backstories, since many people who adopt a character make up their own backstories so they fit with their other characters more.

It's definitely a factor
Do people still buy adoptables?
Absolutely, at least I do.

Depends on the quality. If it's just a base that was drawn and recolored a bunch (I dislike these a lot), then $5 or so is expected. Of course, unique ones can easily go for a lot more, and if they have a front/back then quite a bit more.
