And then, I start EATIN' GARBAGESo ... can we trade in 2016 and get a new one? It's still under warranty, right?
The Recap
Needless to say, this year has not gone according to plan. I left my old job and spent the first 4 months of 2016 unemployed. Had no money coming in and had to live off what was in the savings account, for a while. So not ideal in terms of survival and paying the rent, but great for my artistic drive. It allowed me to focus on getting some nice artwork done for the gallery, and even a few commissions to bolster my finances. I even helped make a friend's game, as well as start work on my own! But some of you may be wondering why that all suddenly ground to a halt a couple of months ago.
The Good News
I got myself another games industry art job back in June. At the moment, I'm really enjoying working there. They seem to understand the creative process much better than the last place I worked (and how sitting in a pointless meeting for half an hour can completely derail it) and trust me enough to get the job done in my own time. Also, because the work isn't completely soul-crushingly boring, I have some artistic drive to work on my own projects when I come home in the evening! Perfect! So far, I have yet to have any problems with this new studio. However, being back at work does come with a cost...
The Bad News
I'm back to having minimal free time again. Maybe 2 to 3 hours every evening, if the commute hasn't completely tired me out. So commissions are totally offline for the time being. Sorry guys! I may still do a few trades with any friends who have the desire to do so, but it will still take quite a while to get my side of the bargain finished. At least my commission backlog is empty this time, so I don't need to worry about keeping anyone waiting.
So that's the dealio, guys. I will try to keep drawing my fuzzies as it's something I genuinely enjoy. Just to let you know that I'm not dead or badgerculled.
All the best,
