Furry Picnic and Fursuiting
So I FINALLY got a chance to spend an extended time fursuiting and while I had a great time, I also learned about a little problem with wearing the head. Namely that after a few hours with the head on, when I take it off I'll have trouble seeing straight for awhile. But anyways, back to the picnic!
Getting there was... an experience. My boyfriend drove and two other friends were also with us. Space was limited but we managed to get everything packed alright. The drive wasn't very pleasant, however, as my boyfriend was REALLY stressing out. I don't know if it was the fact it was so early for him (he works third shift) or just general driving on the highway or what, but whatever it was I repeatedly had to help him calm down. Once there I sent the other two friends off right away (they weren't helping the situation, to say the least) and my boyfriend helped me suit up.
The area of the park they had reserved for the picnic was fairly spacious, which was great considering that it had rained the night before and there was still the occasional puddle. Didn't get my suit dirty at least! At first our group just hung out on one of the only open tables (which was WAY out from where the main pavilion was situated) and my boyfriend took pictures of me in suit and I took a lay on a blanket. While taking off the head for a breather there was an issue and the fan became disconnected. Thankfully it's fall and I live up here in the north so I managed without a fan for the day.
After the pictures and getting things settled we decided to start mingling. At first we just hung around a random girl in a MLP shirt and a guy taking a bunch of pictures. The guy ran off after awhile and the girl followed suit a bit after that. We went to the pavilion and ate, then I just kinda walked around and hugged and got hugged by random suiters and a few furries. Of the ones I remember...
There was a crocodile suiter giving out free candy. Had a bit of a chat with her. Also chatted it up with a furry who brought his dog, though she was somewhat trepidatious about all the suiters. Saw a super awesome suiter in some kind of kirin/dragon fursuit. Never got a chance to talk to them as they were always part of a massive group of people. However at the end, when I was getting tired and about ready to call it quits I struck up a conversation with a suiter carrying an inflatable dolphin and a furry with a HUGE plush on his back. We talked a lot about some random stuff, then hit upon some similar interests. In the end we exchanged Telegrams and I had made two new friends(?)!
By this time it was getting late, and there was an announcement that rain would be coming soon. We helped clean up the pavilion and pretty much just bid our time. The two I had exchanged Telegrams with came and said their goodbyes as they left. My group was pretty much worn out so we took one last lap around the area and didn't really strike up any other conversations or anything so we got ready to leave.
Just as we were leaving a couple drove by while my boyfriend and I were standing by our car, him helping me out of my suit. I only had my head off at the moment, mind you. The guy looks over to us and asks "So what's going on up there?" (referring to the furry picnic). I, being almost in full suit, was too dumbfounded to say anything. I mean honestly, he had to pick up on the fact I'M DRESSED AS A FOX that maybe furries or something? My boyfriend actually responded, explaining about the furry picnic and all that. The guy just answered "Oh, didn't know that was a thing." and drove off. I just stood there, still amazed while my boyfriend got my gloves and feet off.
Once home I spent the night in front of the fan, a coldpack on my head, watching Jimpression and BestFriendsPlay on Youtube. I was so worn out from suiting I couldn't do much else. It was an amazing time, however, and makes me REALLY excited to suit during the upcoming Furry Migration!
