I've done mig welding at my job but I just didn't think about it and now my shins are basically sunburnt from the bottom up. It's a fairly large machine too, I got it for free for helping clean out a garage. I am not going to post a picture of the thing I did, I would hesitate to call it a weld. It's more like a giant mess.

Oh, just sunburn. That happens to the best of them. I had a welding teacher, 25+ year career, come in to class one day with sharp tanlines on his collar bone because fuck it, let's do it live.

Also, don't forget eyewear. Arc flash sucks.

in my early soldering attempts, I once tried to brush some with my finger without thinking. It was dumb.

I fairly recently poured some molten tin into a thing that had a droplet of water on it and got a penny sized third degree burn on my forehead. I haven't actually ever burned myself with a soldering iron though.
