Recording literature reading for Halloween; advice wanted.

SO, since I can't continue Maeara's Journal for the time being, I guess I'm going to have to find something else to do. I had the idea of doing some holiday-themed readings of appropriately spoopy works, but I've never done any kind of voice recording before. Consider it a personal experiment. My problem is, I don't know how to go about starting that. I need a good, or at least reliable, free voice recording software for starters. I hear that the one built into Windows 10 is a trainwreck and should be avoided, so I'm going to do just that. Any particular advice?
If you want someone to do additional voice, I'm all yours. :3
