We’ve updated the Beta UI!
You’ve given us a lot of feedback and we’ve been listening and making changes and improvements. The Beta UI is still a continuing development and is getting upgrades, changes and fixes behind the scenes.
== NOTABLE CHANGES
* Content First - We want to ensure that your content comes first. When people open your submission it should be your art, story, or music draws the viewer's attention. Not a site banner, not an ad. We want to put YOU first and foremost.
* Sidebar - We’ve introduced a sidebar to submission pages, as well as improved navigation and options. This new addition has gone through a lot of revisions, edits and changes to make sure it’s user-friendly, easy to use, and compliments the rest of the changes made to the site.
* Advertising Changes - In addition to our Content First guidelines, we’ve removed ads above submissions for logged in users. We’ve also changed one of the 728x90 ads to a 300x250. We retained our previous design of keeping community ads at the top of the page.
== SITE FIXES (Live/Beta)
* Submission Uploads Numerous improvements in the submit process with how it deals with file uploads and possible upload related errors. In addition, we fixed the 'unsupported file type' error when uploading certain mp3 files with album art. Thanks to dancingduke for their patience and aiding with the debugging process.
== KNOWN ISSUES
We know there are still some issues with the UI, and we’ll be working on getting those cleaned up. If you run into a problem with the Beta UI you can report them through the Trouble Ticket system under “User Interface” problems.
* Buttons - Buttons on the site need vast improvement, and we’ll be working on getting those cleaned up within the next few weeks.
Mobile - We know there are still some issues with mobile pages not rendering correctly. We’re working on making improvements and fixing those.
* Themes - Due to changes we’ve made in the template system the only visual theme that works properly at this time is the default Dark theme. We will be updating and making changes to the rest of the themes soon.
* Inconsistencies - We are aware some pages having visual inconsistencies and will be working on cleaning those up ASAP!. As we make improvements we will be going back and cleaning up existing pages as well as making additional modifications.

FA+

Though I could just not be used to it.
I guess I bring this up because maybe there's other settings where the text may be easier to read for some than for others depending on what they've chosen?
It's not much annoying just you have to "focus" on items....
It's better to "highlight" the contents themselves, not the background of them :|
Otherwise, lot's of nice changes.
Problems:
1. TOO DAMN FLAT! What's a button, what's not a button, what's a text field? Who knows until you mouse over or start clicking!
2. Has anyone ever heard of the concept of contrast? Apparently not. There is a theme that does have good contrast ("Puff") but see point 1.
BTW, you should send your feedback to the staff directly and hope that they care to listen.
My favorite is actually absol but Spinda just kinda makes me giggle everytime I see it. It's just so derpy and wopply. Spinda is probably my favorite 'cute' pokemon.
Edit: comment text and background could definitely use better contrast.
Also as ux improvement for the future could we have some kind of feedback when loading the full image? Sometimes I'm not certain I actually clicked the image. A little loading indicator would be nice.
I feel like this might have been put out a little early. Seems there's lots of little bits using the old color scheme.
Edit: why are +favorite and "note author" in the sidebar and also below the image?
Give your users multiple options on how to see/use FA, so the site will be as comfortable to use as possible for all of us. :D
Most the time I forget we even have a Beta.
Since things have updated, I'll see if they fixed the issues I was having the last time I tried to use it
Edit: Nope, still broken :/
i'm on chrome
thumbnail view-- https://i.gyazo.com/6559afe740606f3.....7158b6fe8d.png
fullview-- https://i.gyazo.com/783222bf0fdde4a.....df72b86e47.png
But then again, I never left the 'classic' UI
https://userstyles.org/styles/11315.....e-gone-updated
(It'll convert the sidebar into a hover over menu in the bottom right of the screen)
It's nothing against Dragoneer's work, I just don't like it at the moment, but he said he had some fixes to put on it, so hopefully my little tweak is only a temp one for the time being.
I've already been hard at work making a dark theme for the forums, so that it would, in the long term match the site closely. Although as I said in an earlier comment, the site now looks more like my theme for the forums than it used to.
BTW, IMO the sidebar should simply start from the top of the description field instead of top of the submission, and it would be fine.
Thanks for finding it.
Yeah, I can see why that would be better. I can look into adapting a tweak to make this happen if it helps?
I hope they will fix it at some point and maybe sooner than 5 years. :P I actually want to make my own complete overhaul but I don't want to mess with it while the Beta skin undergoes large random changes every now and then.
:P True, I've already got an overhaul running, so my "beta" template looks considerably different to most peoples. Though I'd like to see yours when you get around to it.
I think you'd be safe to style it however you wish as the majority of the fixes dragoneer would be doing are cosmetic CSS things, so the underlying html is unlikely to change that much, if at all.
BTW I don't think Dragoneer himself touches the code actually, but someone else. I know Yak is the server side coder, no idea who deals with the UI.
'Neer does "touch" the HTML/CSS side of things and I think a bit of the php code, but yes yak is the main coder for the underlying code.
Suggestion: When full view is active, get the sidebar BELOW the image area. Why would you want to take away screen space from the artwork in the first place???
Small bit of oddity, the 'Characters Left' by the shout leaving text on a profile page is a bit oddly spaced (mostly parenthesis)
Like me, I registered this stupid name with the dashes... now I have an actual branding name (I registered it as a placeholder since it was unused) I want to switch to but I don't want to lose everything and start over when I just finally reached 4k views. :(((
I switch back to Classic, much easier on the eyes. x.x
Not overly fond of the grey but if there's options to for different themes in all good.
keep up the good work Devs!
EDIT: NVM ITS PRETTY COOL :)
and the FA doesn't appear anymore.
Other than that, is fine on my end
Also submission pages look just like the ones at FurryNetwork.
Something that might be interesting would be a banner feature on userpages! There's a large empty section next to our icon and name that might make a good personalized banner location :]
I really liked the dark setting of BETA now comments are really hard to read and the contrast strains my eyes.
I like beta because with my migraine it helped to have a dark setting and only reason I switched from Classic to Beta.
Can we also get the FA banner back? the site looks so bland without it.
Aside from the medium grey that kills contrast in the comments .. and that broader pictures now get cut off by the sidebar with no possibility to scroll.
You might wanna look into that.
Hope the other issue might be resolved as well over time.
And might I add another thing that would be very useful (although it's not UI related): blacklisting certain keywords.
Please, no medium gray... dark gray should be fine.
Like that: https://sfw.furaffinity.net/view/21134769/
Maybe there's a way to implement a scroll bar for broader pictures? ^.^'
I mean you can workaround by using the download button and then scroll in the browser, but it would be cooler if it would be possible to scroll to the side if a picture is larger than your monitor.
Thankies.
UGH why the deuce is there a sidebar with the tags and other weird anomalies; the old UI was better, sleeker looking >.>
Too much grey, please fix this and the search function; there's no reason why it should default to "general" when I allow adult and mature filters to off.
I have this:
2015
2014
2012
2013
I click UP ARROW on 2013, and I get this:
2015
2013
2012
2014
2013 and '14 switch places around 2012! If I instead try the DOWN ARROW on 2012, it will switch places with the entry below 2013...
I tried working it around via moving other years, but when I felt like I see the patter of which two switching, and tried moving 2013 in place via that switching, the pattern differed ONLY that time so 2013 will still be in the wrong place... What's wrong with 2013? :/
I was having the same kind of issue while trying to alphabetize my folders.
If you by chance come across a workaround for the meanwhile, please let me know! :)
Overall, I rather dig it.
Was just nice to see banner art by the fandom to make my user page less...gray
Also, no banner? The one thing I would've liked to have seen was moving the ads off the banner so I could actually see more of it instead of covering up so much of it.
dont hate me people is trueThis Beta update is so horrible.
The new update is just... something else.
I'm also wondering when some form of infinite scrolling, or way to quickly advance browse and search pages without clicking the buttons will be added, as well as some site-side personal and browse/search filters.
Category browsing only allows you to narrow it to one category, instead of being able to selectively filter out several categories, or only a few.
Everything else is really crisp and pleasing to the eye too! (although I admit I was shocked to see the new version)
Only complaints I have is that the chat box is kinda hard to read and I cannot find the folders on submission pages.
And maybe move the "Add to Favorites" to the side too?
Also the other thing that I noticed that if someone uploads a a PNG file extension at a larger than the acceptable file size, the file extension does not get changed during the sites resize and conversion to JPG which causes conflicts in some programs not being able to properly parse the file when opening it.
Also not to fond of the ad above functionality on the sidebar.
everyone: FA! You suck! How come you NEVER update!!!
FA: -updates-
everyone: NO NOT LIKE THAT!!!
Leilani clings to it.
So did a few of the Artist I watch so you are not alone on that!
First off why not keep the comments, journals and bar colors a dark color because having it light is just disgustingly irritating to the eye.
- The way you had the note/fav button was perfect but if you want to move it to the side i suggest not having everything so spaced out and remove the things below a submission.
- The text change it deal able and a bit more professional looking.
-Folder info is gone, probably can't organize then w/o it freaking out as well.
This is just my option but I really dont like the light colors for looking at text if your going to use a light color are least make the text a bit thicker and dark so my eyes dont strain. Thank you regardless for trying and updating.
Edit: If anything you really should just make it customization to have light or dark box's on ones screen because some people like it lighter when others prefer dark. Could leave a door open please to the community.
and pictures bigger than 1280 are now a pain in the ass to look at.
you have to scroll down comments and to get to the bar under the damn comments
though I like the earth tone touch!
the folders now being on the right side is also much more comfortable!
You already got plenty of feedback on greys and it looks like you're gonna work on that, all I would've added is maybe darkening the color used for posts, like these comment sections. The fact it is such a lighter shade of grey is what makes it stand out, I think.
Also while I'm here, real minor thing: I don't like that URL text is so close in color to regular text. I've had to bold URL text when I link stuff as a solution to that but I figure it wouldn't hurt to suggest maybe a different color. Maybe orange since that's used here for usernames?
But my biggest complaint is the fact that when you open a submission, the submission itself is very tiny before you open it properly, and before you do you're left with a lof of empty space. I feel like the submissions should open automatically to a bigger resolution and the "full view" option should be available for only the biggest of submissions. Either that, or have an option when you can choose wether the submissions open automatically to full size or as the original, smaller one, that you can enlarge if you want.
There's a setting there to show submissions in full resolution already.
Cheers mate!
Beta has grey boring color and simple, like old version of internet explorer design
I like the new submission page but not being able to easily get into that person's gallery or even see what folder the submission is in anymore is a UX failure that should be a priority adjustment unless this is going to be rolled back for further work.
Please?
**One issue that needs fixing I've noticed on beta and classic, is the 'ghost' images in folders. If you delete an image before you remove it from a folder, it leaves an 'image not found' ghost file behind. It makes folder galleries look messy.
:/ Any ETA on when This issue will be fixed?
And I don't know if it is only my phone, but the thumbnails in the profiles are only shown about the half.
The next thing I wished to be added is the possibility to view the next and the previous submission, when viewing a submission .
Also the option to manage the notes would be great. (I know that this is possible when using the normal version, but it's pretty uncomfy to have the non beta versions on the mobile, which I use most the time to visit fa)
I am a bit sad to see the ads at the top go, coming from someone who pays for ads now and then. But I do like the new location on the side bar for ads. I'll have to see how the views go next time I do another ad. =3
Thanks for the work. I think it looks nice.
I think we should leave the sidebar beneath the image, it's a sound choice, in my opinion. (Though admittedly, this sidebar does make people read the descriptions.)
Filters, like how Furry Network has them, would be great.
I would gladly change back to the original layout but the site refuses to accept my password.
1. The front page is kind of a bit of an eye sore with this big blob of grey in the beta UI. There's nothing really separating the different sections of art visually. Might I suggest making each row alternating shades of grey or adding a colored header? Right now there's no separate header color and just the text separating each section, so it looks kind of all blended together. The classic UI is more pleasant on the eyes since there's that light blue header separating the different categories of art. ( I hope I explained that so it's not confusing! )
2. Please move the block button on the beta UI! It's far too close to the note button, and I almost clicked on it when trying to note a client. I'm not sure why the note and watch button were moved to the right and so close to that block button, but it's a bit of a small nuisance.
On an off note, I do like the addition of a fursuit/crafts section on the front page now. It's a nice touch to give some extra spotlight to the crafters in the community.
I'm personally ok with the grey color scheme, but I vastly prefer the dark blue classic colors more.
Just my thoughts!
2) Will move the block button!
3) UI Theme will be getting some additional changes/tweaks back with the slate/blue look.
One other thing I noticed as I'm looking through things: Are the newer / older buttons on submission pages going to be added back eventually? I find the lack of them kind of disappointing from the perspective of if I'm looking at say... a comic series, and want to easily navigate to the next page.
I still have to check everything else with the site, but for now, my only issue is the size factor
and wow nice submission layout, though it looks drafty at some buttons
I DONT LIKE IT
I'm still not sure that the search system is working as it should, but that's a problem I've been having before and after this update. Searching for 'popularity' doesn't seem to show results that have the most views or favourites, and they seem arranged in no particular order. Searching for the oldest results doesn't seem to work either.
It does the exact same thing as fullview does and displays the larger sized image of the piece.
The only difference is that its centered and the only thing on screen. It'd be the same thing as
if someone clicked fullscreen and saved the image or if they clicked download and saved the image.
Download doesn't actually download the image when you click it.
Before the download buttons were not obvious at all. I still wished I could have turned them off then. But now it's basically screaming at you. I've come close to dealing with art theft before, now my recent uploaded pics I've resized to smaller proportions. Past images not.
I do agree that having the word "Download" on an image would encourage
art theft as well. A different term there would be better to avert this.
It can't be "fullsize" as that's already a feature for the site. maybe "Larger image"
"Full scale" dunno other phrases that could work out.
Regardless, at least FA resizes totally on the server~ But ye, they definitely need to change the wording, or at least move the button back how it was before.

I'm glad the beta zootopia banner is gone - I had an issue where I'd be in the process of deleting something and would accidentally jar my cursor to the right or left and click on it, sending me the browse page which was probably the most frustrating thing on the last beta.
I like the site being as dark as it is because it doesn't give me a massive headache like deviantART has a tendency to do.
The idea of the sidebar seems like a good idea, but also looks super similar to dA's interface https://i.gyazo.com/57cac1da688fb3e.....7391fe501b.png
I don't necessarily have a massive problem with it or the changes (besides being blindsided by where the folders in my gallery were moved to) - like every site change, things have a tendency to grow on me.
I trust that any bugs that are found will be worked out and I won't get up in arms about it for only being a beta.
Keep it up, dude!
It seems a little different than the rest of the site, but I really like the sidebar on Submissions.
Only thing is I think the "Sidebar Frame" i'll call it needs to wrap around to the left
side so that there is a border/buffer between our icons/comment and the left side of the edge.
It'll also probably help balance the weight of the sidebar better, too.
I sent a more detailed feedback via troubletickets, but these are my main thoughts.
I also think that without some kind of banner at the top of the page the site looks a bit barren. Personally I never heard of anyone complaining about the banner at the top or the ads where they were there. The last I remembered people complaining about ads heavily was when they were put all around submissionsssss....
Holy fuck no I don't want ads around my submissions in my gallery. You claim that you want to put our submissions/art first and then when people actually are clicking our submissions to look at them you've put ads all around them? That's such a contradiction. :<
I don't mind the side bar, I mind the new ad placements. Both as a buyer of ad space, and an artist who wants focus to be on my work when someone takes the time to click it. Having banners and a few ads at the top at least didn't frame the submission itself in ads. OT2
I like the rest of the update, I just realllllllly do not like what's been done with user ads. ><
* And on user pages the Personal Information title is showing even though I have nothing displayed. Can that be hidden?
* An option to disable the Trade/Commission Status box on user profiles would be nice as well since I open commissions/trades via journals and don't use this box.
Thanks! It's really nice to get an update, Just hoping for a few cleaner features and voice my concern for ads. I can tell you guys are trying, especially while trying to appease the masses.
Also, this feature would be nice to have for the desktop version of the beta since the mini gallery underneath the submission box ignores the setting for the newer/older links and mini gallery options in the "Global Site Settings" for accounts.
Not sure how I feel about the sidebar being fixed there when viewing an image, because when clicking upon it, the full view comes up but you're only allowed to see as much as can fit on screen. If you have a track pad, you can move the image side to side, but I haven't figured out how to do that with the mouse so I'm stuck looking at a partial of a full image instead of the whole thing. I'm not even given the option for a scroll bar at the bottom of my web browser (Google Chrome). This issue is not present with the mobile version.
One big issue I've noticed is that if you have 1Blocker installed on an iOS device, comments completely fail to load at the bottom of the page. Disabling the blocker allows them to load fine.
I personally like the color scheme! With some tweaks I think it'll be great.
Thanks 'Neer! <3
I like my shit simple.
Content FIRST, remember.
----
Profile suggestions
----
Have a line that sections the users featured submission, their gallery, and their favs from one another. Right now the latter two are so close together that it's possible some users might not realize that they're seeing both a list of favs and submissions at the same time. As an example, if you look at this image http://i.imgur.com/P6PxzSG.png there is nothing thattells the user that the top row and the bottom are seperate things. Sure, theres the word that's far to the left, but I feel thats not enough. A user should be able to quickly and easily see that they're different things with a single glance.
The statistics and especially the Commission status info needs to be back at the top, there is no reason why it should be hidden under everything else on the page when most people want to see it without scrolling
The shouts section is huge and just wastes tons of space on the page. The shots section on my page alone takes up close to half of the entire page's real estate. In classic it takes up about an eighth. This is even worse with having several big shouts.
Same with the profile description, it wastes so much space. The aforementioned statistics and commish status should be here, like it is in classic as it's a better use of the space and allows people to immediately see that data on load. Not moving it up to here could actually negatively affect kiriban contests.
"Profile Submission" should be changed back to "Profile ID" as that just makes more sense.
The +Watch button needs to be more obvious. Have it a different color from the rest of the area around it.
----
Submission and Journals suggestions
----
I like the "More from X" area next to submissions, but I feel that not it should have more options, maybe 9 or even 12 links instead of 6. Larger icons would be nice for those with high resolution monitors.
The ability to hide the info to the side of a submission so that it's centered would be nice.
Comments are quite a bit more readable/visually friendly, but also take up a bit more room now. It'd be nice if the spacing between comments was smaller. On reddit on a 1080p screen, I can see about 10-11 single line comments and it be very readable. On here I can see only 7
We NEED to be able to collapse comment threads. Not remove them or what ever, just an easy way to hide an entire thread like you can on Reddit. http://i.imgur.com/ljhaG6T.gif This is EXTREMELY usable on submissions with huge, long comment threads.
Have the comment box ABOVE the comments section, not below! It's super annoying to need to go to the bottom of the page, past a billion comments just to leave a comment.
Have it so that nested comments beyond a certain depth (say 6) are hidden behind a "load more comments" link that when clicked expands to show more comments.
Nested comments beyond a depth of something like 9 should have a "continue this thread" link that loads a page of comments starting from that comment. The last two suggestions are taken directly from Reddit, which deal with huge, long comment threads. If these two things didn't exist, then the comments section of any post would quickly become unreadable past a certain depth, which is exactly what happens on here. You've seen them, threads that ge so long that the comment boxes are like 70 pixels wide and a billion tall.
----
General
----
Allow for larger thumbnails, both custom and normal! Thumbnails are soooo tiny on modern resolutions.
Markdown support would be nice.
More text formatting buttons! I hate having to manually format a URL. :|
I hate that if I try to use a formatting button on selected text that has a space at the end, the formatting code will putt the BBC code after the space instead of before.
The different greys in the dark theme is a bit too bright, but I can see where you guys are intending to go with it.
Having a longer (MUCH longer) time to edit comments would be nice. :o
E: would love some feedback from Dragoneer on my suggestions. Many of them are simply aimed at increasing usability.
Another big comments suggestion is that when a user clicks "Reply to this post", don't send them to the comment box, instead just create one under the comment they're replying to. Again a Reddit gif. http://i.imgur.com/CRMtQWf.gifv This allows them to not only see the comment they're replying to, but any comment that the above comment could be replying to (eg not only would I see your reply to my comment, but I could easily see my comment too). And if they decide not to actually reply, they don't have to worry about finding were they left off.
Also, I feel like the "Featured Submission" image is now rather small, making the art seem less "featured".
I use Reddit as an example so much because they've already solved many of these issues since they deal with tens of millions of users a day.
I do think you guys are going in the right direction but there is still some screen real estate optimization and usability work to be done, imo.
Please add the "Select All", "Remove", "Invert", and "Nuke" options back at the top of the submissions page. It can be rather inconvenient to have to scroll all the way to the bottom of my subs to remove them at times.
"Post Comment" should also be highlighted so it's easier to see.
One of the biggest issues with nested comments is that it's easy to get lost within them if there are multiple branches and not know for certain if person A is responding to person B or C. It can be hard at times to follow the flow of a conversation. EG, in this image http://i.imgur.com/HWtqNcU.png it's not 100% clear when a thread branches or not. It's not that hard to figure out, but mistakes can and will be made.
The solution is actually REALLY simple. Color code each comment! I'm not suggesting that each comment be a unique random color or anything crazy like that, what I'm suggesting is have even comments one color, odd comments another, and any replies to a comment or its children comments would be "contained" within that comment's color.
Basically the above screenshot would look more like this if following those simple rules.
http://i.imgur.com/H4mEPnE.png
As you can see, that simple change makes it far, far easier to follow the flow of conversations the different conversations.
I'm ALL about usability and making life easier when using systems.
How it looks on the current version of comments http://i.imgur.com/Tu2SOA3.png
How it looks in my mockup of color coded threads http://i.imgur.com/myY2hrh.png
I'm sure you'll agree that the light grey is much easier on the eyes than the bright grey brown. The contrast is actually better and makes the text even easier to read.
As said by others, the text box color is too dark to easily distinguish from the background; I wouldn't mind that being lightened or having at least a light, single-pixel border added.
I don't have too big of an issue with comment box color vs. comment text; the box color is a little light, but for me it's more of a nitpick than an actual aggravation.
Not all that fond of the display setup on the main page, though; I feel like the "Browse Options" would look better if it were thinner in width and moved to the left side instead. I can't say I'm all that fond of the thumbnail display as it currently is, either; I personally don't like how much margin space there is between both the screen edge in on the left, and from the options on the right. Granted, my resolution is a rather awkward one; 1440x900. That said, what looks best for me might be a bit crowded for those with smaller screens.
On the upload screen, I'd again prefer the info on the left rather than right (though that's more of a personal preference/minor nitpick), and something about how the category choies are stacked bothers me, but I can't put a finger on it. What I can put a finger on is how the links that are usually at the bottom of the page (Advertising, ToS, Code of Conduct, etc), are compressed right up to the bottom of the category list; it just doesn't look right. As for the Finalize screen, the only thing off is the lack of a preview.
Past all this, I don't know of any bugs; I haven't uploaded anything in quite a while. As for whether or not this looks like other furry sites, 1.) I wouldn't know, as I'm only on here for mature art (I'm not a furry, but not a single issue with furs), 2.) the notion wouldn't bother me, anyways. You can only be but so unique and original; something from somewhere else is always going to creep in somehow, so... That's a non-issue, personally.
Damn, I rambled. @_@ Whoops. :P *Edit* I see what others are saying about moving the buttons from beside the images. Why on Earth did you put those there, of all places? It really does interfere with the image. :/
In all seriousness, it's nice but the UI around the browse page could be improved, it's extremely difficult to see where the text boxes start as the colour is so similar to the background of the sidebar.
The page now looks great, I just have one 'complain' (even if I know you'll talk to me about themes incoming, I should say it): The contrast between the grey used as background in the post and the white used in the letters isnt big. Please make the grey darker.
A random suggestion: Give a way to minimize the sidebar (preferably to just icons) and keep the configuration (maybe with a cookie?) between pages when you navigate, but dont make it mandatory. Right now fA reminds me of Furry Network a lot, and I don't know if that's good or bad.
You say art comes first and yet because I work on a 17 inch screen it's so garish and resizes my art horribly.
I miss the banner the most tbh, everything is so UP
Can you guys only change the layout of things you have IMPROVED and not EVERYTHING?
You get used to something, get down the muscle reflexes and BAM. Look, literally everything is now in another place. Why?
"but you can pick from 7 other UI layouts" Guess what, they all look garbage ._.
Also, the color contrast like many before stated is really off.
Not a fan of this look at all. Please consider re-implementing the previous beta layout as an option if you insist on going in this direction for the site.
Also, I agree, I'd like the option for the thumbnails for the art to be one size and the faves to be smaller. I have my faves shut off right now because of it.
Also, browsing pages between galleries doesn't work. Anyway, an overall improvement ^^
As much people says, I hope you keep the old layout as an option ^^
I don't think a sidebar is the way to go; it cramps everything up on the page and actually distracts from this whole "Content First" thing you've mentioned. If the content is first, then my artwork should be the first thing you see, from one side of the screen to the other. I did see that an option to turn off sidebar is in the works now, but, just saying, it's really not helping your "Content First" goal.
I also hate the new colours. The contrast is too much. I've actually switched back to Classic because neutral, medium gray + white is much easier on the eyes than dark gray/black + white. I know that colours are gonna be something that changes a lot up until the moment it's finally launched (and probably even after that, too), but it's just really not eye-friendly.
I hate to say it, but the Classic theme actually had all the makings of a great site, it just needed to be brought into 2016 with more options. Like letting us decide what's on our front page. Also an artist banner like Weasyl would be a nice little touch for our profiles, as long as they're kept within a certain dimension, so they don't take over pages.
I'll keep an eye on the beta UI, but honestly, I don't see myself switching back to it from Classic unless the colours go back to something much subtler like the Classic theme or a soft lighter gray bg + dark gray text. Just like in art, I think black and white should be avoided at all costs.
While seeing an art, reminds me Furry Network... ew
at how DeviantART does it. Where the full viewing pushes the sidebar down and out of the way to where it lines up with the description. As it is now...it completely kills image resolution. Especially
on wider images. Making it collapse via toggling option would be nice alternative as well.
Everything seems...wider overall? One thing I really liked was how nestled and condensed the gallery and favorites thumbnails looked on the profile. Now it just looks all spread out and ugly, and in turn
spreads the page out. On a wider screen...this looks really hideous and spaced out. It may just be a nitpick with me, but I prefer a tight, condensed look to things, and I shouldn't have to scroll on
someone's profile like I'm browsing Tumblr/Twitter.
These colors are horrid. The old UI color was perfectly fine. There is WAY too much gray and it actually hurts my eyes to read the comments. Especially longer ones. As someone who actually has visual
issues with hues and colors, having everything so close, is incredibly painful for me to try and tell apart. The light gray and white sometimes appear as the same color to me. Another small thing is that
the background of the "leave a comment" section needs to be adjusted. I actually couldn't tell where the text field was because it just blends in. The orange on that light gray just...doesn't work. It's
honestly very difficult for me to read comments. On the other end, what would solve this for everyone is to have multiple color schemes available and allow us to pick/choose what colors we personally want
to view on the site.
On the other end, colors should be the last thing you should worry about honestly as there are features that are pretty much needed to make browsing this site more user friendly. Comments need to be reworked
to some kind of thread that can be collapsed. Images with a huge comment/reply section are absolute torture to work through because of how FA handles replies. Same thing with adding the comment box to the
top of the image (while keeping it at the bottom).
And this last one is a personal thing, but adjusting the site to allow us to use CSS or HTML tags/codes for text formatting would be VERY nice. This site is the only one where I have to revert to the BBCode
formatting which makes crossposting images/descriptions a chore.
TL;DR: You guys have some neat ideas that I like, but execution is kind of poor. Bring the old UI colors and interface back, and try to work these same ideas into that one. It solves the issue with the colors
at least haha~
the empty space is too distracting and takes attention away from the picture
(what it looks like to me:
https://gyazo.com/10bbad45fcbeb11385669565a0a1d977 )
Do you see the problem here? There's a GIANT-ASS BANNER AD DIRECTLY BELOW THE SUBMISSION, which takes the focus away from the artwork if you don't pull it up to full size. It's gaudy and distracting, and it shouldn't be there. If you want an advertisement of that size, put it on the bottom of the page like everything else. But, honestly, that size AD won't fit ANYWHERE ELSE on the site without taking focus away from the artwork, the artists, or making the first thing you see on the page (the header) an advertisement. Now. That being said, I for one am okay with the advertisements in the sidebar. I feel like they work, and I don't find them distracting. But this is also likely because they're furry-themed ads, likely bought by site users, whereas that large banner appears to be a Google advertisement.
But, in regards to the sidebar - I for one do NOT approve of the "Note" button being included in the sidebar. For artists who use this site for business, it makes it extremely easy for other users who want to try to ""befriend"" us to do so. (AKA - It makes it easy for annoying, invasive users to send artists unwelcome interactions.) What I suggest instead, is to have the option for it to be a note button, OR a link to an artists's commission page. It also feels redundant, since there's a (far less obvious) note LINK directly below the submission itself.
Also, it's extremely annoying that the comments are "squished" in order to avoid the sidebar. It just looks... like crap, honestly. And I also don't like the greys chosen for the comments on submissions. again; it looks bad, there's not enough contrast, and it sticks out from the rest of the site like a sore thumb.
I do like that there's suggested content from the artist on their submissions - that's a really nice feature, and will get other pieces more exposure. But, again, the majority of what I've noticed about the new layout is that it's badly thought-out.
Also, y'know... we don't need a new layout. We need better functionality - tag filtering, more organized categories, a better way to advertise streams / YCHs / open commissions, etc. If you want to regain ANY trust from your userbase again, you need to address the big issues we have. NOT try to woo us with new site design.
BUT BUT. i really really really do not care for the ad right under the submission. It was said you want to make it about the art. That ad really distracts from the art. Also when you go to the bigger image of some art work. the side bar cuts it off. and theirs no way to see it all.
My biggest irk is the color of tags on submissions. Warm yellow/orange colors demand attention, and I will find myself drawn more to look at the tags than the art pieces. I'd suggest making them the same color as the rest of the buttons in the side menu.
My second biggest peeve is that there is no border on the left side of the submission pages, leaving the artists icon and really wide artwork brushing directly at the edge of my screen. Its very unpleasant to look at.
The lack of separation between the art description and the comment box is another icky oversight
And I honestly wish the menu on the right wasn't there at all (or that I could at least hide it)
Its very distracting and takes up a lot of space...
As a persona taste I also right out hate right sided menus... have some tact and at least put it on the left : P
So that I can actually enjoy the artwork without distraction and fully centered
Also, too much like FN, maybe you can put the sidebar on the left. :P
Also, please put the artist information and other links relating to them beneath the artwork, as the sidebar is not only blocking a good portion of image when full view is selected but it's distracting as well.
Honestly, I really dislike the side bar. I really think they should stick with keeping all the favorites, notes, and other options underneath the submission image.
Something that kind of bugs me is the layout of the menu on the browse page. Having the Browse options lined up against the left on the left side of the looked alright. Now that its on the right side it looks a little disjointed. The "Adult" check box and "Apply" button just poke out there. The "Toggle Desc" and "Apply" buttons widths can be reduced.
When your viewing a submission There is no Newer/Older or Prev/next option. They're kind of needed for people that post comic pages here. Also the submitter's icon needs moved away from the edges of its section.
There is also a glitch on user profile page. You can see it on mine. The gallery section will show the top part of a second line of images. I've only noticed this happening on a couple of pages. It doesn't seem to matter if there is or is not a featured submission.
What I DO like is the big download button. That's the one change with the sidebar that seems like a good idea. What I DON'T like is that the sidebar forces fullsize pictures to fit into the space provided on the page by the sidebar, and on top of that, the sidebar will sit ATOP the picture until the window is smaller than the size of the enlarged picture, at which point the sidebar auto-hides itself. If you're going to force this thing on us, at least make it get out of the way of art when the art is fullsized. There's no way to even move the page to see the rest of the image, so if your window isn't over FA's image max pixel size, you'll be missing some of the art thanks to the sidebar.
but gosh it would be really nice if the sidebar thing on submissions was hide-able, or that the submission file stretched with window size. so far it seems to cover part of rectangular submissions in small resolutions.
Color schemes I could give less of a rat's arse for; I'm here for the art, not to whine over a UI, ya fookin neckbeards.
Sidebar is nice, perhaps have it float next to the image as the user scrolls down. Re-add the thumbnails to navigate next and previous. Either have the description in the sidebar or have it visible so it's on-screen regardless of the size of the submission. That said, submission should -always- fill the view of the window if it's larger than the window - users can click on the image for the full view (no matter the size).
That's... just about all I can suggest.
It's painful, it's in the way, it obscures a good portion of the screen, I liked the older one better, why is it on the side? It looks unsightly there >.>
The idea: Color schematics that are fully customizable with the side bars, background, and text color. (Use an RGB meter on your page and the browser's cookies can store the setting) There could also be presets, like the theme you have now, a bright theme, a high contrast theme, a low contrast theme, and so on. That way, you don't need to constantly change the colors and people have a more custom color choice.
Though don't forget a LOT of people don't give a damn about keywords/tags (Or don't speak English enough to know what to put as keywords), so an option to just flat out block an artist's everything would be nice too.
But I REALLY like it. I think it looks great!
Also the ability to personalize colors would be pretty cool.
The first is the following themes all look like terminal, or a white HTML back ground and blue hyperlinks to stuff. I tested on Chrome an Firefox with the same results.
terminal (which i think is supposed to be this way)

For now, all I ask is a fix for the arrow buttons in the Folder Management section. I might be in the minority, but I absolutely HATE when my folders aren't organized the way I want.
This problem has existed since the first implementation. Please address this issue, thank you.
(Browser; Google Chrome)
I'll likely peek around the css sometime, already got a few ideas for small tweaks and such for a theme/override based on a lot of the changes.
Looking forward to seeing more improvements!
It's waaaay too monotone.
Personally I'd love to see the thumbnails on profile pages be uniformly sized as against a mismatch of variant sizes.
Although having spent a few moments coasting around the new beta, it does look a lot more like the Dark theme for the forums than it used to.
Makes favoriting pics much easier for me. I don't mind the color tone so far.
I can't tell if it's nice or not. Not fair
Edit: And somehow when I tried to edit my first comment, the edit box did not appear, and the option to edit disappeared for me. I don't know what that is about.
-Uploading a gif without a custom thumbnail displays the first frame of the gif as the thumbnail ONLY in the gallery hotbar
- uploading a custom thumbnail breaks the above feature
-thumbnail on user page can become completely distorted due to it using the last frame of the gif instead of the custom thumbnail (last frame being a broken image due to how gifs work)
-on nearly every other page the gif shows as a 1x1 pixel image making it very hard to click
-in user gallery gif shows up as a white square
-uploading an non-gif image, letting it create a custom thumbnail, then uploading a gif and unchecking "use image to create custom thumbnail" still results in the image being replaced by the gifs final frame.
The...font you used for menus is so...gross tbh.
Comment boxes should be brighter, it looks like the CSS is broken instead of an intentional design choice.
The thumbnails for some submissions are stretched.
for the first time i think i actually like where things are going. Good job FA, you didn't fuck up that bad this time.
I adore the nice sharper yer rounder look, the fonts are thick, to the point and on spot. The new colours are very nice to! I'm all into darker themes. I also LOVE the new side bar! I LOVEEEE that that stuff is no longer under the submission, but not neatly off to the right so from the drawing down is just straight and simple, "Here's the art, here's its description!" I'm now hoping if I upload a thumbnail it will show in that side bar when looking through submissions!
THANK YOU FA!
Usernames and submission names are no longer displayed and the preview/description view that you could get by scrolling the mouse over thumbnails is now gone, which was a tool I greatly appreciated to avoid submissions of a type I didn't want to view.
I really, really dislike the update as a whole.
Hadn't yet said anything since the only effect on Classic was custom 100x100 icons on submissions were getting squashed, (this is now the situation on IE7 when one logs in) but now gallery and Inbox views are devoid of information on desktop Chrome.
No effect yet on mobile (Chrome/Puffin, Android, phone and tablet)
The missing descriptions and mouseovers have returned, but now I wonder if I may have accidentally clicked "Toggle descriptions". I never looked into that before since I never had a reason to use that feature. It may have been pure coincidence that this happened at the same time as the notification of Beta UI changes appeared.
Perhaps some of the colouring could be tweaked, but I'm loving it how it is.
But all I really care about is changing my username... ;_;
SoFurry has such a nice layout
https://userstyles.org/styles/13383.....d-nav-bar-v0-1
Or is it the default/active one?
The only problem is enlarging a big picture causes it to cut off along the right side.
Maybe if you could edit the format to be a tad bit more like how Youtube does when you Theater Mode a video.
Simply move the side panel below the picture so that in "enlarge mode" it makes the format look like the last Beta UI.
That's the only peeve that I think really needs to be fixed asap.
and again, please bring back a preview image when uploading a new submission. it's creating lots of potential for miss-labeling
You could also make it so that you can filter out characters, because apparently, blocking does not stop me seeing characters from people I don't like, and before you say "We can't do anything about that", I just told you the answer. It's because users can have multiple characters.
But you took away from me my dearest navigation between submission and that I can't forgive.
Why do you guys keep changing things that 'no-one' asked about but ignore what the majority does ask for? We've been asking for better ways to block users, built in filters and such for a while but no 'We must have harsh colours and a sidebar that 'no-'one asked for.'
Please start listening to the users. This is getting ridiculous.
I submitted a TT a while ago regarding the weird organization of gallery folders and an admin told me that was a work in progress.
I hope y'all are able to fix that bug soon! I'm a really organized person and I'd love to be able to organize my folders how I'd like them to be displayed rather than whatever arrangement they prefer to be in according to the site coding.
Also noticed that my folders are no longer accessible in my gallery on the mobile UI, that should be fixed as well if it's not on the to-do list already.
- I think Open Sans was definitely the way to go for the font. It's sleek and professional without trying to make a point about it
- Removing the header was rather nice. The header seemed to partially capture the essence of FurAffinity, but I really grew tired of it, especially the way that the end of it always appeared to be cropped off.
- The sidebar was brilliant! That is a massive step in the right direction! An amazingly responsive sidebar that provides relevant content in a much more pleasing way!
- Overall, I feel the FA team made some great changes to keep this site ahead of its competition with its modern look and feel. I was really happy to hop on and see these changes.
Some things I might change
- the contrast between the background and comments seems a little off. the comments seem to be just a tad too bright
- the contrast between the background and this text-area is even worse. It puts some strain on the eyes
- I had to scroll down below all of these comments in order to post my comment. Maybe make a link that takes us down to the textarea?
- On the main page and some of the notification pages, only the font breaks up the sections. it may be better to add some slight visual to divide them. Sites may employ a very slight gradient that is only really noticed where the sections meet, or they may leave a horizontal rule between sections or attached to the bottom of their section headings as a bottom border.
- I'm not sure what I think about the caps at the top. Capital letters often give a formal appearance at the expense of legibility. Many sites intentionally use capital letters when they have text that users don't want to read. There's a balance with that tactic, as capital letters add emphasis, but use too many caps next to each other, and the letters' similar sizes and shapes make them lose their distinctiveness. For long usernames, I would imagine that the top bar is an eyesore.
- It used to be that when you added to a note, it kept the whole thread
- As of today, I notice that note replies only show the last couple reply threads and delete the rest. This is NOT good, especially for those of us taking commissions who need to see the entire thread to properly know what was said without poring over archives to find bits and pieces of conversations.
Just make it optional. For the few people it annoys, let them be able to turn it off/on.
Same for the people who NEED it for work!
Just a little "Hide previous messages" button or something.
I know that's a pain to code, but it's better than having both sides at a horrible loss.
http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/.....psfovft9nr.jpg
I can see what looks like Chrome as your browser, if you have Stylish, you can use the following tweak to fix the issue until dragoneer gets to it.
https://userstyles.org/styles/13388.....a-ui-notes-fix
As for the send button, its now in the bottom right of the screen, which would be behind the network info screen you have up.
No idea why I didn't think to look being the network meter
if it was, try deleting that tweak and re downloading it, found it wasn't applying correctly for some reason, should be fixed now.
hey, does anyone know how to edit submissions?I haven't been able to find the button in this new update...
Editing individual submissions can be found under "Owner options" on the actual submission in the sidebar, at the bottom of the list."

https://www.furaffinity.net/control.....SSION_ID_HERE/
https://www.furaffinity.net/control.....SSION_ID_HERE/
(Bottom link breaks due to some bug with FA, but you can copy/paste it into your browser to use it.
I've posted the links above if you cannot find them on your screen, but you will need to enter the submission ID, of the submission you want to edit. You will only be able to edit your own submissions, even if you enter a submission id that doesn't belong to a submission you own.
k thanks😁1. Contrast between text and comments is terrible (hardly readable on my second screen, which is very bad)
2. The different blocks on the homepage are only separated by text, but no other things like colour, or horizontal lines.
3. The 'Finalize' button when submitting art is hidden. Everything else is aligned on the left, why would this be on the right?
4. Desktop version (not sure if there is a mobile verison) feels too full, there's almost no space between the left/right edges and the context.
5. Titles in journal page not clickable - they should be links to the journals
6. Fade in/out when hovering over a list item feels slow
7. Fade in/out area not clickable, only the links. Why highlight it when it's not clickable? I'd suggest to fix this by making the entire list item clickable, not just the titles.
While this might seem like negative feedback, I do like it so far. Obviously still a beta, as it doesn't feel complete, but definitely an improvement. Well done!
but the edit submission link is gone in the mobile version when youre on an image. unless its on this apparent sidebar thats been added....which isnt on mobile, s O
Like. As a user on the go a lot I kind of rely on the mobile version a ton and it's REALLY inconvenient to not be able to edit my submissions for hours until I get home or onto a computer. A fast fix for that would be really great. :/
1. The perfect gray is really odd, prefer the blue/off gray
2. Text box color almost near impossible to distinguish
3. Don't like the idea of no banner atm, also are profile banners planned?
4. I like the sidebar, though I feel the owner options are in an odd place
5. The text in header looks really weird/uneasy to look at, perhaps from being in all caps?
Other than that, the beta layout just looks really nice, and I'll be using it from now on.
If you wanted to fix it now, you can use the following tweak to fix it. (requires Stylish)
https://userstyles.org/styles/11315.....e-gone-updated
It'll move it into the bottom right of the screen as a hover over menu, it's not perfect but it works nicely with large submissions.
i dont have this problem with the classic.
All i know is if eventually classic gets removed and the beta is all we can use i would still post here but id be faving and commenting a lot less simply from ease of access (lack there of in this case)

A site inside a site. That way others can upload their stuff in the group and make it a robust page to hangout at. Facebook and Steam are good inspirations.
But I do second this suggestion, we really need this.
Only complaint I've got thus far.
https://www.furaffinity.net/journal...../#cid:51154971
However if a drag/drop style approach was taken, then yes it would take up more space on the the databases to keep every users preferences (and we're talking about 400,000 users at least, not counting those who are banned or sadly no longer with us) .
I could see alternate templates in maybe a years time or so, depending on how the rewrite is coming, but drag/drop styling I think is a good few years away at the moment
Gotta hope for the edit button though, that thing saved lives OwO
It's so weird to click "Browse" left then the menu is on right etc...
No natural and not user-friendly at all ><"
The last version was clearly better in term of navigation!
(And where is the beautiful banner place now? :C)
The light theme is actually worse at this, but I'm guessing its not have much work done to it yet.
I'm going by to Classic Light again, my eyes are starting to hurt too much. x.x
And in the meanwhile you can request the desktop site from your mobile browser.
#1 Pictures are far too big at times, and needs to do a horizontal scroll to see them. I'm sure many if not all of us hates such. The pictures should be no bigger than the browsers starting out. Maybe something like Gocomics does with their comics would be better. Notice the watermark spyglass button - http://www.gocomics.com/dicktracy/2016/10/18)
#2 The picture oversize also makes comments run way past the length of the screen (I have 1366x768, and a 1280x1024 monitors - Set as dual, separate monitors, not one huge screen.)
#3 I ask, PLEASE, consider the cancer that's going on the web now. The use of faint, low-contrast text! Some sites I can't even read due to the low-contrast gray on white backgrounds, or using odd-ball colors (one site I saw, used /pink/ color for links on white backgrounds. Nearly unreadable!) If you need a special add-on that changes colors on the web, or boosts contrasts, then something is wrong. Please consider #000000 for text on white!
Ok, I've made my suggestions, now run with the ball.
Chose Beta.
And no offense, but making suggestions on something you've never seen is only guesswork.
But what I was saying is that the new UI is far better, easier to read too and more compact. Please relay that to the heads of FA.
Ok, strange too. Now this I sent though the notes is showing up /here/. Something new I guess.
You was correct too, no offence taken.
BTW I'm just a random user just like you. :P
Why?
Just why?
Instead of trying to make the site look "modern" and "pretty", they should fix the site itself first.
On Classic under desktop Chrome, all title/artist and mouseover data under thumbnails on gallery and inbox/submission pages is missing. Persists through refresh and forced reload-refresh.
So far, not yet manifesting on mobile Chrome or Puffin browsers.
The missing descriptions and mouseovers have returned, but now I wonder if I may have accidentally clicked "Toggle descriptions". I never looked into that before since I never had a reason to use that feature. It may have been pure coincidence that this happened at the same time as the notification of Beta UI changes appeared.
Custom icons (mine are 100x100) are still vertically squashed, on both desktop instances of Chrome and IE however
- The gallery and favorites are currently on top of each other, stretching across the page. Unfriendly to widescreen monitors. Break 'em up left to right!
- Hover to preview gallery feature has been removed and I miss it. Maybe make it so when you hover over a gallery piece it replaces the featured submission, but that returns to normal when your mouse leaves the thumbnail?
- Journal is stretched too wide and it kills formatting.
-Comment boxes are too wide, consequence of the journal being too wide.
-Recent watchers + watching list is hidden in the statistics box. Sometimes I like to see who is watching who, so I can find new artists.
-Post Comment button (and update buttons in profile settings and other places) blend in with the background and don't look like buttons. I've had to look twice on two separate occasions now 'cause I didn't notice on first glance.
This looks more friendly to me: http://i.imgur.com/JXst1Ai.jpg
The sidebar on submissions though... no, just no.
It breaks the layout completely. Please allow the art to stretch all across the screen. As it is now it makes my brain hurt. It looked perfectly fine having that information under the art so I don't see why you have to go "fix" what isn't broken.
There is a problem with enlarging. If I enlarge (using ctrl-+) the top menu system gets all mashed together. If you wish, I can send a screenshot via a box.com link upon request.
In all fairness, sideboxes are a pain under the tail. There is only a finite amount of space on sides, but infinite on top and bottom. Unless the site's formatted right to take into account the limited space left it a terrible result. I'm not sure how to fix this myself (and I'm an old-school web writer - HTML 4.x was my last.) Unless you have different versions of the site.
Say a mobile version for phones, a compact one for smaller screens, and a full size for ones who have (futuristic) house walls that are 20' or more in size. The biggest problem is; the text gets too tiny to read and sites don't scale well.
I think the solutions is watch your fonts contrasts, and sizes. That's about the only problem I have with any site, and yours is actually better written than most others.
Content first is nice, but I do miss the banner.
I had almost forgotten that the shout/journal side of the page seems way too big.
Please give an option to hide it </3
http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/7884812/
It just surprises me that when there's y an update, the worst problem with the original layout remains?
Does nobody else see how bad this is? how awful the comments look stretched out? How annoying it is to navigate around the site?
Either my computer is messing up big time, or somehow everyone else is totally okay with full-width abominations.
Center it, for fuck's sake. Just because a website has all that space doesn't mean you have to use every last pixel.
the previous ui was WAY better imo... much neater
also http://puu.sh/rY2tK/6617950280.png these colors are terrible
also no preview image when submitting anymore??
I like how in the classic view, it shows images before and after. If you guys could figure out a way to do the same thing with the new layout, that'd be better.
I love the modern design twist. it's dark and mysterious.
I noticed that when I use my mobile I can't see the section for editing the images. I tried requesting desktop mode and it doesn't show up either.
I also have five ideas I was thinking of for the site to be useful:
+ Zippable files to upload/download in case of problems with the site ( backup system)
+ Batch uploading of artwork to put into account to sort out later
+ Group pages instead of using user pages (Hierarchy system to manage groups and users)
+ Increase folder count for more sections to use. (I'm aware many don't require it but my team and I would have a better chance of organizing our content while we develop it.
+ Creating a folder system inside a folder system to have a more folder levels. I say four at the most like this:
[Root]
+ Faction
+ Character
+ Weapon
+ Swords
(So that you can have a folder system where you can organize your user/group page content into a robust hierarchy for content that needs a deeper placement.)

Please take these suggestions into consideration.
most of the button controls need to be a darker shade to make them easier to see, currently the button bg colour is the same as the page bg colour.
some themes like the terminal one make text boxes and some other controls invisible.
username/post title in journal listings needs to be bolded as it is with the normal FA site to make the selectable links easier to spot.
At some point going to move the theme switching options out of the account setting to the site setting menu?, its seems a bit unnecessary to have to re-enter my password everytime i want to switch theme.
in beta, i don't.
mmmm, well, i suppose it'll be fixed, but i wonder if it's wrong with anyone else?
also, the problem with the side bar seems to be that it doesn't scale for resolutions smaller than 1080p... i only know this because my main monitor is 1080p, but my SIDE monitor is 720p.
full-screen images work just fine with the side bar on my main screen, but on my side screen, the sidebar completely obscures parts of images.
i am sure there is a fix to this, but if you guys weren't aware over at FA HQ, well, there you go~ make zoomed in images work with screens below 1080p should fix the issue. while 1080p is much more common now, some people still use 720p or below. (i used the 720p screen just to see if my suspicions were correct)
As for the sidebar bug, it is well known, and since then, I have developed a script which can move it out of the way (so it only activates on a hover motion)
I've included a link below, feel free to check it out and see if it helps you in any way.
https://www.furaffinity.net/journal/7897714/
but it definitely links in classic mode.
(also, i noticed there's no more "current mood"... is that gone for good now?)
ahh, i normally browse on my 1080p monitor, and it works fine on this one. i was checking to see what the issue is for some users, but not others, and found out through my second screen (a 720p monitor)
on the other hand, bless your soul for replying to all these comments on this long, long post.
If it isn't it's likely your your cache needs a refresh.
I think current mood may have been retired, but I could be wrong.
yeah, i browse FA with a 2x1080p (sometimes in dual config and sometimes solo) and on 1366x768.
On the 1080p i don't have many issues, but the 1366 resolution is a pain with FA, hence why i made all those tweaks. I can only imagine what a 720p screen would be doing.
Not a problem, I like to help out as best as I can.
i'll clear the cache soon, but it's either that or pale moon is being ridiculous.
ahh, sad day to see current mood leaving, but oh well. the rest of the changes have been good.
Either should work, but seen as how I can see the icon, it somewhat points to the cache being at fault.
Maybe, but like I said, it could possibly make a return, I don't know yet.
thank you for your help, again))
Not a problem, just sorry I couldn't help fix it.
it's much, much faster than firefox, since it's built for x64. but it's got its issues. the speed is worth it, but i still have to use firefox for some things for that reason. not enough to stop using the browser, but one day i imagine it'll fall into more obscurity as firefox marches on with endless updates, and add-on devs move to match firefox's updates. maybe firefox-x64 is okay, but i've just not bothered. i like the appearance of pale moon more as well, so until it dies, i'll keep using it.
and it's no worries ^^

Remember to link where your issues have occurred, including any notes you may have received that you feel are relevant to the issue.
I get so many notes that if I have to go through my notes just to find a reply someone said several notes ago, that would take more time than just, scrolling down all the replies in the one note.
*sigh* Well, notes it's been fun while it lasted... I still think it'd be easier just to let people delete what they want from the note to prevent clutter, instead of removing all but the last two.
Been testing this new UI out, its all nice and works well when on a browser but for Phone users its even harder to work with.
With the side bar certain info on submissions can no loner be seen on a phone. Most notably the "Editing" options that were once under submission images.
So uploading or those travailing cant edit anything in submissions until they go back to a desk or type the URL. The Sidebar is a bit of a problem imo.
Might want to see into this as before the UI it was functional, other than that yer i guess its alright.
that were changed now. Pretty used to the sidebar, but it's inconsistent and hard to
navigate through someone's gallery with. I did like the Back & forth buttons/previews better.
I greatly miss being able to go directly to artists' full galleries from a submission as well.
I still wish notes kept all their previousinfo when going to the next note in the series. It makes private
communication a bit of a pain. Be it general chat or for commissions and trades.
When viewing the first picture in someones gallery (that is, the newest upload), the mini gallery will show the 6 newest submissions.
Once you start moving around the gallery it appears to select 2 newer and 2 older submissions than the submission you are looking at, and one seemingly random one.
I've provided a link below, and it does pretty much the requested functionality you mention.
https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/7.....content-filter
As far as I know a filter system is in the works, but for the Phoenix rewrite, which I don't know the development status of. But I would love to add the feature, but like you, I am but a humble user, nothing more.
account settings -> site layout/theme -> template -> classic
then enter password, confirm. you'll be taken to the older version of furaffinity.
there IS a browser extension by
I've linked my extension in a new comment below.
It attaches to the "User Settings" page of the site and allows you to switch them on/off at will.
There is a visual explaination of it available at the forums: http://forums.furaffinity.net/threa.....fixes.1614408/
The extension Nerolak linked to was developed by Rapidstrike and is useful for filtering content on FA.
This site does not only have visual art, but also music and other non-visual artworks. When an accessibility program has been set up to work with the old layout and the new layout throws the whole site in disarray, those accessibility programs require clear-and-concise explanations of what changes to do what so they can move to update, but that will take time.
The old site, the old elements, the old placement of objects, that all worked. That all works. It still works. Just upgrading the backend code to be more optimized would be much better than throwing a completely new layout nobody needs which suffers from new bugs.
Also, how does one delete a picture? Or assign a piece to a folder? The site just isn't obvious enough. Not that it ever was :P
My page has changed drastically!
I can't access my notes with assigned priority anymore.
I could get used to this.
One thing I greatly hated since the october beta was the fact that the top bar is no longer sticky. Have it following the window when scrolling. I hate scrolling all the way to the top just to see how many new subs I have left to view.
If you go to the forums by the link below and follow the instructions in the thread, I've posted a whole load of fixes for FA, and I'm adding more all the time.
http://forums.furaffinity.net/threa.....-bugs.1614408/
Oh and the search is still broken when it comes to applying all mature, adult and general filters. I thought this was going to be fixed? Guess that's not gonna happen, right?
Also, now there is NEW problem - at some window sizes, right panel disappears, but buttons doesn't appear under picture! So I'm forced to make window smaller or bigger, but it's not usable at some range of window width. While there was fav link under picture I didn't cared, but now I can't use FA in some cases.
Not to mention despite users asking for it you still ignore the request for a proper block button.
phone type
Os version
Browser name (version as well if using a 3rd party software)
If so, I'm guessing your phone has a high res screen, It sounds like the resolution bug is happening on your phone, unfortunately unless you can get access to things like stylish/tampermonkey or greasemonkey on there (which i don't think is possible), there isn't any recourse really until FA fix it themselves.
http://www.whatismyscreenresolution.com/
I think it is primarily the resolution bug, but to be sure, submit a TT to the staff with all the info about your issue and they should resolve it.
I can not give favorites to other drawings, I use the Beta version. It's annoying or very stressful, could you help me please?
Incidentally, any width less than 1070px it seems will hide the sidebar, Until the code is tweaked unless you can make your browser either larger then 1070 or smaller then 480 px in width, the buttons will stay hidden. :/
I do not want to sound rude, but the new changes suck T_T
In itself, thank you very much for the help ^V^
Why are we once again pushing for the `side of image` layout? Are we that desperate to advertise on the submission pages?
Under the "Account Personalization" heading
the search function does not appear.
However, it is slowing down any browser that I use.
Chrome just says "Aw Snap!" and everything is laggy
Firefox says "Bad News: This tab has crashed"
and Opera just freezes.
I'm using an Acer Aspre v5 (6GB DDR3 Ram, Windows 10)
However, the terminal look is sleek and cleanly designed.
Edit: The drop down menus are transparent and I can't make out the text.
* Themes - Due to changes we’ve made in the template system the only visual theme that works properly at this time is the default Dark theme. We will be updating and making changes to the rest of the themes soon.
The Terminal theme may "work" in some respects, but is likely horribly broken in others,
To be honest they should be stripped from the list until such a time as they are more functional.
it's not a big problem but somehow annoying :(
Maybe it's due to doing most of my browsing on androids but no mater what browser I use it can't read the text without pinch zooming way in, and furaffinity does not respect the browser refresh with large blocks of unique formated text blocks, so I can't read full sentences with lots of side to side scrolling.
Also, possibly adding pages to the comments section so that people don't have to scroll forever to reach the reply mark may be a wonderful thing to look into? I know people with slow internet (much like myself) may feel like once they reach the bottom, it jumps due to more images loading up and kinda irritate the bonkers out of ya!
Also there has to be a way to skip to comment form and back to top, had to scrooooll all the way down to add this comment. Finally the search section seems broken on mobile, I see no search bar on Chrome mobile.
Either way, the color scheme is comfortable to look at, but it would be nice to have more variation in the future.
and choose the journal from there.
any way to request the full site on mobile or something? Or is it just adaptive and locked this way?
This is an issue I've noticed for both mobile ((kindle, iPhone, android)) and PC ((Linux, windows, have npo access to a Mac so can't tell you there))
Unless the beta-version is fixed to actually be usable, and, I'd like the option to stay with the classic style indefinitely, or at the very least a design that resembles it, cus I at least know this work with how I like to use the site.
please.... stop this deletion of previous notes thing:( I can no longer hold my business conversations here because I won't later have a quick access to needed bits of information (ctrl+f) as they'd become split between plenty of separate notes... :(
(PS I'm not even checking the beta, I disliked it in any form I've seen so far)
I do not have these problems on FA with Firefox at all, but I do not use Firefox for anything else, and I don't plan on switching solely for a furry art site. Please look into this?
Thanks.
I have two main issues with this layout- first being, the submission layout changes from page to page, so i feel like I'm having to figure out where the submissions are, rather than just focusing on the art in the thumbnails. (I'd plausibly get used to this, but I feel that it's not an improvement.)
The second issue, which I'm considerably more bothered by, is that portrait-orientation images are now given far less visual weight than landscape-orientation images. If I have 2 submissions, one 1x2 and the other 2x1, then the landscape image will be given four times as much screen area. I'm really not pleased at the idea that something as basic as image dimensions will change how likely people are to see my art.
So yeah, I'd encourage a return to the grid system of browsing thumbnails.
