The sweat droplets collected in maddeningly larger amounts, soaking Drave’s undershirt within the first moments. No one dared move as the lion Elite stood, a glowing ember of a prologue to destruction. Even if the soldiers weren’t held by the empath, there wasn’t much they could do anyway. His death would have only quickened the chain reaction. The lion was literally going to explode… His flesh steamed and his once fine mane grew coarse with the heat he produced. Every fur in the room could feel the effects of the creature’s rising body temperature, the nearest being singed, the farthest being dried as if before a flame. And indeed, as the lion Elite opened his eyes and stared into those of his former comrades, he seemed to shimmer and distort as if his very flesh was composed of some combustible gas, and his intentions of a gluttonous blaze.
