Something I started tonight

He walked up the old fashioned wooden stairs as he looked and the detail carved into each individual bar of the railing. He had never been somewhere so fancy before, nor as old as this institution. He carefully dragged his paw along the polished wood. He reached the top of the stairs and was so busy looking at the statues carved into the top of the railing he never really noticed the dirty blond wolf watching him. “Definitely found the right program for you, if you’re that interested in the stairs,” the wolf said, finally announcing his presence. The cat slightly shocked to hear someone talking to him turned to face the wolf. “You’re here for the EDDT program right?” the wolf asked. “Yes, how did you now that?” the cat asked, surprised that something as little as examining the stairs would give away his program. The wolf chuckled to himself a bit. “The only program on the second floor of heritage hall for orientation is the EDDT program,” the wolf stated. “Oh, didn’t know that,” the cat replied slightly embraced. “You don’t pay much attention to the school news do you, you should watch the app better,” the wolf suggested a he pulled out his phone. “The school has an app,” the cat said in shock as he quickly looked at the wolf’s screen to see sure enough there it was. “Of course, almost all the major schools are on an app system,” the wolf laughed again. “Oh, well the last school I was at never had anything like that,” the cat replied. “Pretty handy thing to have you should download it,” the wolf suggested. The cat pulled out his phone as he looked through the app store and found it. He started to download it.
The wolf put his arm around the cat and started to walk, forcing the cat forward. “We should get to the classroom for orientation,” the wolf stated. “Yes, that makes sense,” the cat choked out as normal as he could while trying to hid his slight blush. No one had paid this much attention to him before. He normally kept to himself and did his own thing. The wolf lead him up to the classroom, letting go just as they got to the door walking in and calling out to friends. He took off to the back corner of the classroom where his friends were. The cat slowly made his way in and saw an empty row by the window. He made his way over and sat down, taking out his pencil and notebook, ready to take notes on the new program he was starting.
It wasn’t long before the large bear with black fur and dressed in a fine suit stepped in walking right to the board. “Hello new students, you can call me Brad, I’ll be your academic chair and you can feel free to come and see me any time,” he announced with a smile. “I have my office in MK 401 in the school of construction building. My sole purpose is to make sure you succeed here and we can work out any plan we need to make sure this happens,” He continued writing the directions on the white board by drawing a map. He rambled on about expectations and academic policies, which the cat wrote down in as fine detail as he could.
After an hour or two he started reading off attendance, to note who bothered showing up for the first day. He called out Jesse as both the cat and the wolf stood up. “Looks like we have two Jesse’s in this batch,” Brad laughed as they both sat down. He continued on then dismissed everyone to go exploring and learn the campus.
The cat started packing up his stuff as a small bird girl slide up beside him. “So you have the same name as our Jesse?” she asked in her broken English. “I guess so,” the cat replied a little started by her. “How old are you?” she asked. “I’m twenty-four, the cat replied. “No way, your both the same age, isn’t that crazy?” she asked, almost vibrating with excitement. “I guess so,” the cat replied looking up at the wolf who seemed to be watching him closely. “Anyway, it was nice to meet you,” the cat said as he was getting ready to leave. “No, you should come to the bar with us,” she insisted. The cat looked at the little blue bird, back to the dirty blond wolf then back to the bird. “I’m not sure, would probably be better if you just have fun on your own,” the cat replied. “Come on, it will be fun,” the wolf said from behind the cat. The cat shuttered a bit, started by how fast he had gotten behind him. He turned to meet the wolf.
But before he could say anything the wolf was pushing him forward again with an arm around him. Next thing he knew he was at the campus bar with the wolf, the bird and five of their friends. The wolf sat right next to the cat as he ordered some nacho’s for the table. Everyone was chatting and having fun as the cat sat there and watched. He wasn’t quite sure why he was there.
The squirrel at the end of the table called out to the cat, “so how long have you lived in the city?” “I have only been here for a year,” the cat replied. “Finally got tired of the country life?” the squirrel followed up. “No, I recently moved here from a few provinces over,” the cat replied. The table looked surprised at his answer. He started to feel like the odd one out really quick, but the wolf put his arm around the cat again. “Told you he wasn’t a twin brother,” he laughed, as the whole table seemed to be included in a joke the cat didn’t get but he laughed along anyway. The nacho’s came and they were all eating and laughing telling jokes, as the cat zoned out a bit.
Out the window snow was already starting to fall. He stared to watch the light white flakes dance around in the wind. “You like the railings and snow, eh?” the wolf asked. “Guess you don’t like the snow then,” the cat replied turning to face him. Suddenly he had a nacho chip covered in cheese and bacon bits put in his mouth. “Not when there is food out,” the wolf laughed as the cat made an awkward face from having random food stuffed in his face when he didn’t expect it. But it was good.
“Fancy a drink cat, we’ll see can drink more,” the wolf challenged. “I couldn’t afford that tab even if I wanted too,” the cat replied. “Oh ho, think yourself a good drinker,” the wolf said, engaging in the challenge. “Name the booze,” the wolf said, with all seriousness. “I guess I normally drink vodka, but I don’t have money…,” the cat was saying before getting cut off by the wolf shooting up in his seat. “Vodka challenge!” he called out, as lioness in a bartenders outfit walked over with two bottles and two glasses. She dropped the glasses in front of them as she filled them with straight vodka. The cat cringed a bit. “I meant vodka coke to drink,” he whispered under his breath. “Alright you know how it goes, we cut you off if we think you’re getting too drunk. We end your competition too bad, not cleaning up vomit from this. Now when I say go, you chug as much as you can,” the lioness stated bluntly.
The cat looked at the wolf who was already holding a glass firmly in his paw. The cat reached to hold his. “Go!” the lioness kind of yelled. With that they both started downing the vodka. Both cringed at the taste, but got through four cups before it started to hit them both. They started spilling a bit and swaying as they continued. At the ninth cup the lioness cut them both off.
