Hello there! I've decided I wanted to do a little write up of some info and my thoughts surrounding one of my characters considering I've noticed a spike in interest lately. Hopefully this will answer some questions a few people have.
First up is, I've heard some people unsure of who owns Bombjackal, and yep he's my boy. It started off with me teasing a friend about explosive animals, so I thought "bomb + jackal?" I did a few test sketches, said friend drew him back and we did a little bit of back and forth until I got down a design I liked. The name, however, is sorta a place holder. I wanted to give him an actual name but I've been using that for so long it feels natural.
What happens when the fuse burns down? Something I've left intentionally vague because I think the allure of mystery works there. It also allows people to project whatever they like there, from the obvious "he explodes" to a metaphorical explosive growth
Can I make my own bomb character? Oh boy, this is the biggest one and trickiest for me to answer. I'll start off with, I don't own the concept of an explosive themed character, plenty of others have done that before and plenty more after. But, I did not design his looks to be a template for others characters. Even there I feel there's a lot of grey area and that's whats hard for me to give a direct answer. Fuse tail, skull marking, stylized jackal, these elements alone don't define him but it's the sum of them that works together that I feel makes my character.
So it's really hard for me to give a "yes/no" answer to that. I don't want to be a jerk telling people no to working on creative endeavors but I also want to feel comfortable with my own creations.

I do like keeping things more flexible! That's kind of what I do with Damon most of the time
as someone who has recently come under a tentative, nubulously formed Bomb-type character of their own i was feeling alot of anxiety if i was being a rude dude instead of a cool friend pal
(none planned for the near future, but he seems fun and simple to draw)
