Looking for a new hard drive. Any suggestions?

Avoid 500GB Seagate Barracudas..
I built my computer around a year ago, and it's been running great, until about a week ago. Narrowed it down to the hard drive, which seems to be failing more and more each day. This morning, my computer wouldn't do anything other than lt me move my mouse around, and upon reboot, it wouldn't load either of my OS's (dual boot on two partitions on the same drive). I tried to reformat the partition without any unbacked-up files, and the drive couldn't even be found by the OS install disks (tried multiple OS's).
On the other hand, tech support was absolutely excelent, and I soon had SeaTools for DOS burned to a CD (using my cheap laptop). But, with 90 errors on the drive on the first test, and a completely failed test on a second attempt, I went to NewEgg to see what people were saying.
It seems that these drives have been crapping out a lot, and the rating has gone down a lot since I bought the thing.
But for now, I'm looking toward Western Digital, as their ratings seem to be much higher. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

FA+

I am happy with that.
But my older Western Digital that used the reg IDE ribbon died.
It epic failed like no booting or anything due to the loud clacking it is making.
But I backed it up as it was making noises before it actualy died on me.
And I had formatted the hd and was going to do a Disk fix on it but it died before I could.
And the thing is hard drives no a days only last about a year.
Or that is what I feel anyways.
They don't last like old drives anyways.
I have a external shell that has USB and Firewire options on it.
And I'll put in what ever SATA hd I want in it.
As I am getting fed up with screwing in Hard Drives and then having them fail a year later so might think about getting an external hard drive?
They might be a bit more but at least there is not the hassle of opening up the case and having to get a screw driver to take the screws out of the drive then having to put them in the new drive. x.x
Just an idea though.
I'll definitely give an external drive some thought though :)
As for WD, the computer I built for my parents has one of those in it, and it is still working fine. Will probably go with one of those.
An external hard drive to stay away from is SimpleTech one's.
I bought it cuzz it was cheap.
And I know why cuzz it makes a high pitched noise when it is on.
And asked Tech about it and they were pissy with me like told me well it was fine when it left the factory.
And I was like ok but I got this thing from Amazon.com
And how do they knew what hd I have as they don't have the seriel number from it.
Just back all around for SimpleTech.
I got my bro Maxtor external 320GB a long time ago and he still uses that for his music stuff for the bands he is in.
I have actualy had WD's and Maxtors and like either one.
Mine was via UPS :(
Though, I think I may go with the internal. It's not much of a pain to pull it if I need to, and I just feel safer with it inside.
Mine is a clear blue case so have to screw the drive in.
Is that something I could buy for mine or is it a part of the case itself?

I have those in my old Dell system.
And dang those would match my clear blue case also.
Were you going to dump the drive when you get the new one or use it till it dies?
If your going to get rid of it then I'll take it and even offer moneh for it if you want.
As far as how usable it is, I'm not even sure if I'll be able to get my files off of it, though I hope I will be able to.
And if you do buy it, don't go peeking in my drive and finding all my porn! heh :)
How much would you be willing to pay?
I will at least pay shipping and some extra too.
Maybe one of my disk fixing proggies will fix it? lolz
I might use it and put Linux on the thing. xD
But, I'm kinda suspect about it, as quite a few people on the Egg have had problems with it.
I will use it as temp hd untill to total is dead.
Ahem I have some pornz myself too.
I am a sucker for politicaly correct art drawings.
Although I don't draw mature content stuff I like furries that do draw it. xD
Thanks for the input :)
