"Licks you're sheath" - A word on RPs. Alright, several words.
First off, this entire essay and yes, it's going to be an essay, reflects my personal view. Things might be totally different for you and if they work for you and your rp partner hey, fine by me. To each their own. Maybe I'm just venting about several no-goes I encountered during several years of roleplaying, circumstances that prevented things from being as nice as they could be. Here are just three, off the top of my head.
1) The Mirror
The Mirror maybe is new to all this. Scared of doing something wrong, reluctant to go to far. In any case, he will mirror your actions. Want your neck kissed? Kiss theirs and hey presto.
While this may seem desirable at first glance, being easily steered, it lacks something profound. The Mirror will never will never provide new impeti to any ongoing interaction, taking a huge part of the fun out of roleplay. I'd say one might as well train a parrot to rp, if I didn't think a parrot would be way more creative than that. ^.^
2) The Grammer N00b
*Noses you're neck while, holdin u tight*
Enough said. Almost always being an instant moodkiller, the Grammer N00b at least shows some effort and respect towards their partner's character, much unlike...
3) The Lazybutt
A close relative of The Mirror, the Lazybutt will gladly receive carefully-worded lines and respond in their unique, entirely unsatisfactory way.
Player 1: *Wrapping my other forepaw around your neck, lighty scritching your scales, I gently pull you towards me, tilting my head and opening my muzzle to let my tongue glide across your lips*
Lazybutt: *Enjoys*
Now, of course you don't have to reply to two paragraphs with seven. But it just mmight be a good idea to invest as much time and energy into your rp as your partner does. Otherwise, a nice hot animated flash mmight be the better choice for you.
Where am I going with all this? An RP is an interaction between two living, breathingand feeling beings. If you got so far to have someone rp with you, they probably like you, so don't be afraid to break anything by trying out something new.
That being said, it won't hurt to invest some time into spelling and punctuation checking, It's simply a sign of respect, and one that is sure to bear fruit.
Finally, a good RP is about giving and taking... energy, creativity and empathy. Accept and master that and you'll never lack partners. Not just in rp. ^.~
