Man. I've been out of this community for so long, and honestly I kinda miss it. I love the creativity and the imagination and the geekery. I get plenty of the latter around here personally but... it's hard to find people with whom I line up quite rightly, and honestly I've had most luck with that in this world.

But.. I don't really know how to get back into socializing with this community! I kinda got to know people by hanging out in IRC, but I'm not sure if that's a dead thing. Are there other places where people are generally just buzzing about?

The general format of social networking is frustrating in that you're only really ever exposed to people you already know. You form this bubble and, though it helps stay in touch with those people, it can also isolate you from the world a bit, which I'm finding is really starting to make me feel pretty lonely.
