Dear Artists, (X-POST from DA)

Spamming people to support your Patreon is not cool. It's essentially begging for money from strangers.when you go around noting/shouting at random users. Here's the most recent spam I've received, with identifying info redacted, of course.
"Hi, how's your friend?
can you help me? I'm starting my patreon, can you help me by supporting my work? Thank you so much
When I'm in a good position in patreon, I'm going to give it the best, supporting my work and art, I thank you very much."
I'm not/I wasn't even watching this artist when this note popped up, so it was truly randomly sent. Rude, and presumptuous, no?

It is in league with barking at people to commission them, on someone else's own commission notices and so on. As if trying to yank away business and so forth, its all highly inappropriate.
When I boost a patreon it's on an art piece related to it like: "This is my friends comic character! If you wanna see more maybe check out their patreon!" But I'm not running over and shoving it into people's inboxes. If they like what they see and feel like it, they can go there themselves.
I had a fellow ask for money from me in notes and it was really not cool, I didn't even watch them or favorite any of their pieces they were just sorta like: "Hi I REALLY need money, please give me money."
Boost yourself and your friends in public areas like journals and submissions, don't go shoving stuff in peoples inboxes? <XD I mean you can but most people are going to get angry.
