It's my first time going to a con, you got any tips for me?

I don't know if you know people going to the con or not. Just find things on the schedule that may pique your interest and go to them. Everybody is very friendly and if you want to hug a suiter, make sure you ask first but you'll be hardpressed to find suiters who will deny a hug!

There's the generic 621 rule. Get a minimum of 6 hours of sleep, 2 meals/day, and 1 shower/day.

Twitter is used a lot by furries and by the con itself to make announcements. Even if you don't tweet much early on, twitter is a very easy way to keep up with what is happening. Furaffinity isn't really as popular as it once was for this. (For example, people advertising with tweets every so often leading up to cons that they have available space in their room in the main hotel. I saw your journal you mentioned about trying to find a spot closer to the main hotel.

In the artist alley and dealer's den, don't be afraid to ask questions or compliment artists you like.

Don't worry about not having a full fursuit of your own. Last year, only about 1/4 of the total number of people who registered participated in the fursuit parade. The majority of folks do not have suits at conventions. You have a tail and many folks don't even have that! My first con was in 2011 and I didn't have a fursuit or a tail or anything until I got my full fursuit 5 years later in March 2016.

It may seem a bit slow early on when you go to cons but as you get to know more and more people, you'll feel much more comfortable.

You wouldn't happen to know what the price for rooms there are?

The room that I got is a standard 2 queen room and is $540 before tax. But there are not any rooms available via the website. Rooms sold out ages ago. It's just people on twitter advertising their available space.
