I don't mind how it looks overall, but I agree I hate not seeing the artist names and titles directly on it. I don't understand why they changed that.

Try the "toggle descriptions" button that Snowhawk suggested; that one brought back the names/titles. :)

They did at least include a "Toggle" button, at least for watches (I rarely visit the recents page), but it should have been toggled on just to begin with...

I'm still super frustrated that they pushed a useless change that wound up highlighting how important custom thumbnails are, especially for animated media, and that has removed accessibility for a good number of mobile users.

I opened my submissions, it look alright though I wish the toggle function would remember its settings and just keep the artist/sub name visible but oh god, my faves and gallery! It's too much and hella cluttered. :c

The toggle is supposed to stick, though I believe it's on a per-device basis. If you're persistently having it forget what state you left it in, please file a ticket under "User Interface Issue" including what device(s) and browser(s) you're experiencing issues on, so tech can look into it.

It seems to be sticking now. :>

Frankly speaking, I am indifferent to the changes made.
Somehow I prefer the way DA sends those News articles on similar changes (which FA doesn't seem to have); at least keep all users notified.

there is usually a box at the head of the starting page and most other pages, when a change is announced. it leads to a journal entry by the team.

Toggle is awesome. Sadly might increase landscape format because portraits vanish pretty much. How depressing. Now people won't look at portrait images as much because they are smaller icons.

Of all the silly things they updated, it had to be a cosmetic trend that pretty much excludes a format from quick browsing eyes and causes submitting to the gallery some upsetting ocd ugliness.

At least I still have none peacocky classic mode still.

Glad I looked here. Snowhawk's suggestion works. White space (gray space) exists for a reason. It keeps all the images from running together and makes it easier to scan a page. And I also like seeing the artists' names. But I really dislike the name-pop-up and pop-down as you mouse-over the pictures. So distracting.

I just found the "toggle description" button myself and omgosh does it help, now it's a little less cluttered! :D Still do miss the old layout though.
Is pretty much this why I still aren't as active on weasyl, their layout is just too much, plus that you can't toggle old to newest when scrolling through your submission inbox D:
