An update on life, semi-hiatus ending TBA.
It's kind of late and this week has been extremely exhausting, but I'm overdue to post an update. I'd like to start off by apologizing for the radio silence to all of you-- my watchers, my friends, and especially those clients still invested in me with as-of-yet unfinished work.
What started as a silly week-or-so (okay, slightly more, it's my 20 year old guilty pleasure) getaway to binge on Pokemon Sun abruptly took a hard turn several days back on Tuesday. While I was playing my DS on the living room couch, I heard the door to the garage open and some very faint shuffling in the kitchen. My mom-- who I was home alone with at the time-- was presumably coming in to get a drink, use the bathroom... something. The intent doesn't really matter now because she never made it to the destination.
I heard a loud CLANK sound, called out to her, and after no response rushed into the kitchen to find her face down on the floor, motionless, with blood pouring out one side of her head and her face half-stuck in the ultra-heavy ceramic dog bowl full of water we keep inside for our pit bulls. Thank god when I rolled her out of the water she was... I guess snoring?... and still breathing, but KO'd, blood everywhere, not really responsive at all for a pretty terrifying couple of minutes, etc, etc. I probably sounded pretty hysterical to the 911 receptionist because I've never really had the experience of clutching an unconscious parent's bloody head wound or whatever, but there you go.
It could have been a lot worse, though it still isn't... good, as of now. What likely happened was a seizure due to critically low sodium levels, and she happened to drop randomly JUST so that she'd head butt the hardest possible surface in the kitchen, on its edge/lip. She has a severe concussion, a skull fracture, and what will be a permanent (if ultimately cosmetic) dent in the side of her head where she managed to bean herself. But we should be okay. She's out of the hospital now and doing really well, considering-- though she's still in a lot of pain, frequently dazed/confused, covered in bruises, and absolutely needs 24/7 supervision and assistance to function safely; i.e., a helper in the room. There is no way around it.
For at least the month of December I'm basically putting all work on hold until further notice. To my clients, I'm sorry; if any one of you would like a refund or partial refund for as-of-yet incomplete work from my remaining queue, please contact me and I'll be happy to oblige you. I've finally looked over the notes in my inbox and comments accrued on my page and need to respond to those, too; I promise I'm not willfully neglecting you, but if I don't respond by the end of the week, I openly invite you to re-tap me. Since my dad can't take off work for any longer (he was off last week since it happened to be with her) I am assuming the role of primary/sole caretaker and babysitter for my Mom during the weekdays, which means I basically need to be glued to her, and thus just.. don't have the capacity to go do art on the workhorse here in my room. You may see my popping around online if we're 3DS friends because I have a lot of idle time for handhelds while she watches TV and dozes-- feel free to join me if you want to interact on Pokemon or MonHun!-- but that aside, it's just... yeah.
I'll try to keep y'all posted here at my gallery. This was not an intended hiatus, but it is a necessary one. I hope you're all well, and thank you for your patience.

So sorry this happened, but at the same time happy that you were there when it did.
I am in no rush on art, so don't worry about me.
I have had to take on that role for my folks at times
Please do what you need to, Family comes first.
I'm sure your commissioners will understand.
I will add your your family to my prayers
I wish your mom a full and speedy recovery
God Bless you all
Sounds rough, but at least it happened at home, and with someone there to promptly intervene.
Hope the recovery is swift (did I really just... *sunglasses*). Wishing you both the best ~
