Need someplace new to post.
It's clenched for me now. I need someplace else to post my wares. Cause here just don't cut it anymore.
For every thing we get something else breaks, the cons outweigh the pros, the admin structure is a joke, the rules are self serving, the comments are more or less blow smoke up the artist ass rather then being anything worth reading more often then not, far to many people are doing the same thing, there's no orrigonality in peoples post, and funnly enough the most popular ones are so deep in this hole I think many forget that they have not produced anything of there own in ages.
The code still needs work, and from what I've been told it's going ot get worse before it gets better. People can buy there way to fame and clog up the sumbishions list but someone that create with bought things can get scrtinized. Did I mention too much porn? It's like this is one big giant porn hard drive.
And the community you think exist, does not really. It's more along the lines of, if we belive it hard enough and with some pixi dust it will be so. And don't get me started on the ego's...
So... Any one know anyplace else tat still around that might offer up a nice alternative to this place? Cause longer I stay slogged in this hole, the less and less I want to create cause I'm not getting inspired.
Cheers,
Ranard
PS. I leave you with an equasion:
(Amount of PS/gimp used + Famous char + Amount of spooge X size of sexual organs - orrigionaity) X (ego + fan servaces) - (decency + likeability) / talent = FA popularity?
Am I missing anything from that?

And as for talent, I feel I do what I do quite well giving my skill and limitations. I'm not god all mighty towards it, but I'm decent enough that it does not look like crap, no would I be satified with bare minimum.
How quick our tones change. What's wrong? Need to keep in good with your selected inner circles again?
If you don't like it, no one is keeping you from un-watching and not having to listen to it, jus like no one is keeping me here (something I, unlike yourself with your comment towards me, am looking for a solution too), now is there?
That and I simply hate having to deal with clothing physics. Even in my art, back when I drew, I tended to keep my figures unclothed as I was ass with it.
My biggest problem with porn is not that it's there. It's that there is TOO much of it. And it's all anyone cares about really. I mean, there are some wonderful clean work out there. Stuff that took hours, weeks sometimes to finish and a lot of tie it does not get the same lower or more as it should then maybe a half an hour sketch of someone naked while cumming/lactating/ect buckets. That's a problem to me.
but wherever you go you will get same shit. Commentators will tell you how awesome your pic is and rarely go into further details. It's just how internet works, you can't squeeze more out of people who spend less than 30 seconds looking on single page on average.
This site has one strong point. It's big enough to have some bright people. This gives you the chance to get some interesting comments sometimes.
as for inspiration try watching this: http://www.ted.com/talks/view/id/453
I'll give that a look when I have a spare moment.
It also requires an unbiaseness towards said commuinty. You should not have to be joe blow awsomesauce to garner help from individuals.
And for the record, there is in fact more clean pictures on FA than there is porn. Porn just happens to be more popular.
And don't you think there is something inherintly wrong with that? Should not al the differnt artwork be enjoyed the same? Why should people to get on the map at all have to sometimes sell out there morals and do porn just to get a sniffling of attention around here?
And yes, it's a little sad that clean art might not get the recognition it deserves, but that's simply the way it is and it's not the site's fault, it comes from the power of the community. But it only means that "clean artists" need to work harder to improve and get noticed. I see it as motivation. I hope that I can some day be a good enough animator to make short little animations and get recognition from it without the help of sex appeal. Now I don't lean into drawing porn because I know it's what the audience wants, I do it because it's what I want to see on the paper. The audience favoring porn may not be fair, but since when should one stop drawing because they're not getting the attention they want? In any case, people like
Actully I do hope the same for you as you have a good style and feel for motion in your animated works, you take into account some things that others miss. Makes me wish I could still do the flash animation thing now and then.
You are one of the few then cause I've talked to quite a few people I use to know as non porn goers, that have shifted over because, and this always was a kick in the teeth for me,"I got better liked when I started doing porn."
We might not see eye to eye on the community issue, but it's at least nice that we can see eye to eye over the clean art not getting it's due one.
Funny that I really don't see allot of that when you thinka bout it. Normaly when you hear someone tlk about another artist, there clean and moving stuff s the stuff that hits the folfders and is forgoten while the porn is the stuff that seems to stick in peoples heads.
Chosing not to do something due to the fact it would look bad is differnt then doing the very same thing over and over and over again. Using the same pose, or falling oupon the same chars, never creating somethign new, or taking things differnt places. Working with other moods, I don't work with clothing because it's a little esier most times. That does not mean that I'm incapible of doing so. Just allot of times my image looks better without it. You can't use that same thinking pattern with other such things.
And said looked for people gathering and generlly keeping new's out of said circle. And of course selling there wares. My guess, and I would love to see it as an experiment, is that if 'furry porn' stopped being created (Yeah right), the said community would likely fall in on itself, as it seem that the base structure of it is such: Porn.
That's just my assumption on the matter. But giving I've been with the fandom (Better word for it) For a long time and watched it's transformation, I would not be shocked if I was right.
It's what we see online here in reality, basicly.
Yiffstar is dying at high velocity, so I wouldn't recommend it. I don't know...
Hence why I'm asking if anyone heard of any starting places or such.
I sometimes feel like I think I know where you're coming from, but regardless, I think you're blowing things out of proportion.
Using this site is really quite a simple thing. Only upload stuff that you yourself have made, or stuff that has been made for you. In either case you have to secure permission with the other parties involved in it, if any. Do not harass other users. If you do that, you shouldn't have any problems, and can simply use this as a place to put your art. Because really, if you're looking for a place to share furry art, this is honestly the best.
Yes, it would be nice if this site were stuffed to the proverbial gills with awesome features. Wouldn't it be cool if we had an Amazon/Netflix-style recommender system which would say "You'll probably enjoy this picture/artist given what else you like!"? Or something that showed up and coming artists and things of that nature? Maybe some cool AJAX so you don't have to reload a page to +Fav something. Filtering of galleries and inboxes would be nice. A lot of things would be nice. But the admins have the same excuse as you do. You say you do quite well given your limitations. I'd say this site does too. The admins aren't being paid. They dedicate a lot of time to FA, maintaining the hardware, dealing with whiny users, resolving drama conflicts, filtering through art which has been flagged, etc. I doubt that leaves very much time at all for dealing with code issues, and I don't think that the admins do coding anyway--just like the CEOs of a company don't write the software. Given how Wolfblade and Damaratus have stepped down or taken breaks from Admin status, and how a coder recently left the team, I'm betting that working on FA takes a bit of a toll on people.
I mean, I'm sure it's easy to imagine the FA admins in a bad light. You might think they're self-motivated lazy basement-dwelling attention-whores who clearly created this site so they could get into the spotlight. They got some coders to slap together half-assed code and paid for the site out of pocket until they could convince one of their users to pay for bandwidth, and simply have donation drives to pay for faulty hardware after it broke, holding the users ransom. Until they figured out they could get steady revenue with annoying ads all over the place, and regular donation pleas. Now they make so much money they siphon some off the top so they can commission porn from the popular artists. They never deal with problems, they create drama, and the rules are there to protect the admins.
But for me it's easier to imagine the FA admins in a good light. They're under-appreciated (possibly still basement-dwelling, basements give good contrast ratios to computer displays) everyday folks who created this site when other art communities gave the thumbs down to furry art and porn. They had a lot of teething problems, but after 4-5 years of service they've managed to get something which isn't elegant but works most of the time and is up 999 out of 1000 hours. There is a very real community with social circles, close friendships, bitter rivalries, and love being found and lost all the time. We're all brought here by our love of furry art/characters/roleplay, which is more than you can say for most physical locations--people largely just live there because their parents do. Our community has helped to keep this site alive with regular donations, and as a result, we have the largest collection of furry artwork on the planet. And it's not just a directory with links to hundreds of thousands of pictures, there's communication between people about what they like and don't like, what the art reminds them of, etc. Given that our community is not simply a bunch of sheep who all like the same thing, as you're so quick to paint us as, there are often conflicts. The admins make rules to try and prevent these conflicts, and deal with things personally when they get bad.
Short version: This is the best thing you're going to get short of a hand-coded site that you pay to be hosted, and that will be expensive (I know from experience), difficult to maintain (which I also know from experience) and nobody will ever visit it. FA is free and always growing and trying to improve.
I won't argue with you on the issue of 3D art. I think it's silly that people can pose a doll and adjust the lighting and call it art, but they can't pose a model and adjust the lighting and call it art. I've argued with the admins on this before. Though I will agree with them that you can't simply purchase a model and render it out in the default pose with no background or anything--that showcases nothing except your ability to purchase things and push a render button.
I don't think you really have a good grasp on the porn/clean ratio. There are several times more clean submissions than porn. I believe it's somewhere in the area of 5:1 for clean-to-porn. I just checked 7 random sequential submissions from ~5 months ago, and 5 were totally clean, 1 was a clothed female exercising, and 1 was a nude feline (no nipples or adult bits showing) posing with a sword. The reason you think there's a lot of porn is because A) there's so much content that even 1 in 5 or 1 in 10 pictures being porn yields a lot of porn, and B) because like most other people, you notice the porn a lot more than the other stuff. Maybe it's because you pay attention to art with better anatomy and technical skill, and pornographers are good with both of those because they can't hide their anatomy behind clothes, and they'd feel silly drawing porn which wasn't very good (kinda like how you'd feel more silly sharing a homemade porno than a homemade short movie). Maybe it's because you pay attention to what other people favorite, and other people pay attention to art with better anatomy and technical skill. I don't know how you use this site for browsing purposes, so I couldn't say. But in any case, there's a lot more not-porn than there is porn.
I'm sorry if you aren't able to feel the community and the cohesion, but just because you tell yourself that it doesn't exist, can't exist, this place is too miserable and poorly coded for it to exist, doesn't mean that others aren't part of a community. This is as much of a community as any forum, art gallery, blog, and gaming clan--probably because it's got all of those things rolled up together. I challenge you to explain to me how this place is any less of a community than those places, or a neighborhood, or a workplace.
(Amount of PS/gimp used + Famous char + Amount of spooge X size of sexual organs - orrigionaity) X (ego + fan servaces) - (decency + likeability) / talent = FA popularity?
To me this equation seems incredibly ironic. To me it seems that over the past 2 years you've been trying to put together a project which matches a lot with this, consciously or otherwise. You were going to do a ton of digital work and use people who were either personal friends, famous, or both to make a group masturbation animation. Why digital? Because that's how you work. Why some famous characters? Because it's easier to get references and easier to find that somebody exists when there's more art of them. Why such unoriginal poses and actions? Because they're easy to work with, and you're not always going for the most mindfuck insane poses and movements. You yourself have a large dick (understandably) and if memory serves me right, you had a commission done which involved obscene volumes of cock and spooge. You can't complain about fanservice after all the stuff you've done with Krystal in the past. And ego? You think you're better than all of this. You think that this site is below you, because we're all a bunch of unoriginal, fame-seeking depraved whores who just want big dicks and gratuitous cumshots. You make excuse after excuse, but at the end of the day, you're just another guy who's trying to make the best art he can with the tools at his disposal, and maybe get some recognition for his hard work along the way. I won't delve much into decency and likeability other than to tell you to ask yourself how decent and likeable you try to be, and how you might come off to most other people. And I won't touch talent, because that starts to feel personal and I'm a bad judge of it anyway.
At the end of the day I just... I don't see what it is that bothers you so much. People like what makes them feel good, and if they're interesting people, what makes them think and feel as well. People are aware of stuff which is more popular because that's what other people talk about. And people like art and entertainment just fine, but seem to like it if it's not made decent for kids even more. There's nothing particularly wrong about any of those things. And they all combine to create the art community that you see here. Boil things down and stereotype as much as you want, lots of people here are decent and they just want to partake in the sharing of art and companionship, just like you.
Actully my desire to work on that project was surounded mostly around the fact of friends/friends of friends, because friends do that, not how little work has come of that of yet now that I don't consider said individuals friends. My work with Krystal back in the day was mostly because the symbols were avalible to me at the time. I still regret working with her now and still try to, as little as possible, use her. I tend to stem away from known people in my work unless for gift and such because I feel it's unispired. Or I use them because they fit a need at the time and I have them on hand. My commishion actuly was left more in the creators hands then anything else, and it as suport to an artist I respect. After I saw situation, I just went with it as I like those that, few as they are, draw me or my ideas to enjoy doing so. And my choice for digital has always been one of need, not ease. How we forget that I am almost without perscision use of my right hand. And my left is not much better now, because of various damages to it.
Dragoneer and Pinkuh are the only admins I know of who draw. Dragoneer doesn't seem to have any desire to draw me. I don't have any desire to pay Pinkuh. I'm not getting art from them. But hey, thanks again for boiling me down to a biased guy who is self-motivated and just wants art.
In early 2007 when you invited me to be in BAP, I was not your friend. I was not a friend of your friends, except Soulfox, who doesn't seem to talk much to either of us, and I doubt ever mentioned me to you.
A lot of the big artists spend their time drawing who and what they like, which is sometimes fanservice, but often not. However, they do usually start on popular characters because of the references available and because people will recognize them.
Good to know that you only grudgingly permitted yourself to have a big dick, and don't like large volumes of bodily fluid.
And of course, I haven't forgotten about your injuries and difficulty in working with Flash.
Work AROUND, or THROUGH, the roadblocks that so-and-so put in your path. Don't waste your time arguing. Arguing will only break friendships, waste your time, and make you unhappy.
If people don't like something, let 'em. If you don't like something, work around it. I've read all your posts here. This is my reply:
Quit yer bitchin' and get back to the kitchen. So some popular people are putting up a hissy fit. You're not exactly a Solution Center yourself, are you? You have lots of complaints (it does not matter how legitimate) but you have no solutions. People who complain get fired from jobs. People who present solutions get promoted.
Now it can go a few ways from here.
1) You can bitch at me like you bitched at Twile, because I didn't present my ass for you fuck or get down on my knees and suck your hugbox. If you choose this path I want to know who you think I'm a whore for.
2) You can stay the course and just keep whining, arguing, until it allll culminates in some big drama explosion and you're right back where you started.
3) You can drop the subject and move on. (PROTIP: THIS IS THE CORRECT ANSWER)
4) Eat a frozen Twix bar with chunky peanut butter spread on it.
Funny enough I have submitted soultions. Several of them in many differnt ways..
So don't say I don't try it's more of a matter of such things are never taken into consideration.
And it's hard to work around a road block that litterly can take down the work you work on and post. It does not change the fact that I need a new place to post my work. That's the main thing.
Now you have some choices yourself:
1) Aid in suggestions or leads for such a place. (Correct)
2) Keep arguing with me over a distaste for a place that is going to the dogs but heven forbid anyone ever speak of the problmes with it. (leads us to your 3)
3) Continue to be blind and just let shit happen and nod and smile and let things get worse rather then clash and try to make things better.
4) Leave the issue well enough alone if you can't offer/don't want to offer the above.
You're just retaliating without thinking. Work out your anger from your system and get back to enjoying what FA has to offer. Stop focusing on the nitpicking things, such as FA being run by people you don't like. FA's what we got. You can't change that. Deal with it. It's your choice and not mine. Don't start laying blame on me or on other people who try to give you advice. It's advice. We're not blaming you, we're suggesting where you went nutty and what you could do to fix it. If we didn't care, or we hated you, why would we bother? If everyone around here, like you think, is bitching at you, why would we do it? Most people don't give a flying fuck about you. A few are disgusted with how you behave. The rest of us care just enough about you to take the time to post something. Me? I'm telling you to climb out of your self-dug pity-and-bitch ditch and give it a rest.
You don't have to sit quietly. But you are just sitting loudly. Other people are telling you to shut up. I'm telling you to GET up. I don't care WHAT you do, or how loudly you do it. As long as you're not just retorting, retaliating, and trying to get the pointless moral upper ground.
Suggestion: Furtopia? Not gonna solve your problem though. Take your issues to other administrators until something is done, or just suffer through the fact that people you don't like are in charge. They're going to do things whether you like it or not. Whining hasn't solved the problem, has it? Nope. Made it worse. People are less likely to listen to you and more likely to stop giving a shit about what you do or say.
It's not about choosing to be blind. It's about choosing what you give a fuck about, and what you don't. I'm suggesting that you stop giving a fuck, and just do things until you find what works out. Life moves on whether your issue gets resolved, gets better, gets worse, or nothing happens at all.
I mean, The entire furry community is Based around a sexual attraction to furry animals. I just don't get how people don't understand this Simple and OBVIOUS truth.
And also, 'There is no furry community'? What? I don't think you understand the definition of 'Community'. A community is, according to the Merriam-Webster, "A body of persons of common and especially professional interests scattered through a larger society". The very existence of this site Shows that there is a furry community.
There are several other Inaccurate/Hypocritical points made in your Journal, But I Don't feel like writing a 400-word post Complaining about them at the moment, and I think I'll give you a chance to defend yourself.
P.S. Furaffinity has a built in spellchecker, that, while it will not fix your post for you, will tell you when you've fucked up typing something. Use it. When you don't, you look like a idiot.
