Sadly, its beginning to look like I won't be able to attend furry cons outside of southern California anymore.

No one to room with...And without credit cards, I cannot make a reservation on my own.

Most cons have room and ride share boards so maybe you could find someone that way. You might also consider a prepaid Visa card, or a debit card from your bank.

The problem in room sharing for me is that I really need to know the person I am rooming with.

I've had some mighty bad experiences in room sharing, so I tend to be picky.
I also absolutely need an actual bed for sleeping- My leg joints can't take floors any more.
I also turn in early, so I can't be in a party room.

No offense to anyone, but my needs make it rough to find someone to room with these days.

Used to be right down the street. Seriously, I could get there ON FOOT if need be.

Now is a hundreds of miles away and "on foot" is my ONLY sure option for transport. Be sure to have so much fun that you can share, huh? I used to have a total BLAST At FC!!



Out in the boonies country, winter, nothing to do... think I'll shave my head and burn my art from last year.

If there's a bright center of the furry universe, this is the place it's farthest from.

Still in Cali, but moved so far out in the north-country, I'm more likely to see bears, mountain lions (real ones) or rattlesnakes than I am to run across a fellow furry.

Big trade-off:
No vehicle, that means no job, no income... leaves me extremely isolated. Even SATELLITE internet can be unreliable out here, so out 'net price is kinda high and comes with a data-cap, meaning I can't watch art-streams and have to limit videos.

Air's clean; doing good with breathing AND scaling back on medication YAY 'cept for fire season (July-Sept), then I have to be ready to evac with just a few minutes notice.
Fairly low crime rate out here; most of it stays in town and town is a half-hour drive.
Lots of critters to see; watching quail jousting right now.

I can be pretty anti-social, but this is a lot of alone time, even for me.

True, but where I'm at, employment is either providing services like septic pumping or refilling propane, or growing cash crops, few of them legal.



I burn my art all the time. About the only thing I have for amusement anymore.
You still have that old stuff? I'm inclined to say burn that too; at this point, that's gotta be so old, it doesn't even look like my work anymore.
