A look back at 2016 and New Year's Resolutions

So looking back at 2016, needless to say it was a bit......rough for a lot of people as a whole for a number of reasons lol. Numerous celebrity deaths throughout the year and a (imo) questionable president elect have definitely made 2016 leave a sour taste in some people's mouths. I lost my great grandmother this year but for the most part it wasnt "unexpected" given how old she was. Not many ppl can say they lasted a century in this world.
For me personally, it felt like just another year. Nothing really good nor bad happened this year compared to any other year so I guess that's not necessarily a bad thing. Financially I am in a much better situation than I was last year so that's definitely a plus!
As far as new year's resolutions, I normally don't make/have any since I will likely forget about them in like a week anyway xD. But this time I feel I should attempt to make a few.
1) A relationship would be nice. Admittedly, I haven't been in a serious one for a while now xD. So for 2017 I'll try to do better on the that front. Who knows, maybe some nice lady will sweep me off my feet (nothing against the guys out there that may be attracted to me haha). Extra bonus points if she is active in the fandom, or otherwise knows about it and is cool with it lol
2) Attend my first con. I hope to make 2017 the year I attend my first ever con. No idea which one and it may be difficult given my work, but would love to go to one. Maybe even invest in a partial or full suit eventually! If anyone has advice in that regard I'd like to know your opinion of it. Like which cons you enjoyed most, planning, etc.
3) Visit more peeps from the fandom irl. Earlier this year during the summer I had the pleasure of meeting
Bluestreak98 and his gf. Was the first person I met from the fandom irl and it was a fun experience! (for me at least, hopefully it was for them too x3). For 2017 I want to make an effort to try to visit more peeps I have interacted in this fandom over the years but never got to meet in person. I know between April and May I have leave (subject to change) and I have talked to a few people about visiting them if time and days permitted so I'm pretty excited about that!
4) Maintain some level of happiness or positivity even when things get tough (and they always do at some point). I'd like to think I'm pretty good at this normally so it's more of a "reminder" more than a "new year's resolution" thing, but thought I should put it down anyway.
I may think of some more later as we get closer to the new year but that's all I could think of for now.
How about y'all? I'd love to hear any new year's resolutions any of you might have, or goals you want to carry into next year. :)

I am with you on the relationship thing, as well. That's kind of something I'd really like to have eventually, it's just so hard meeting decent people who aren't creepy or crazy! I wish you luck on your end meeting Mrs. Right! If she's not furry, maybe you could gradually introduce her to the fandom; Who knows, maybe she'll wind up being really interested!
Aw man, I can't recommended going to a con enough! All of my experiences have been generally good and everyone is usually very friendly for the most part. I'd say try to avoid going to one of the big cons as your first, like AC or MFF, as it might be way too overwhelming for a first timer. Start off with something smaller and local to you, if possible, to get a feel of things.
Aw yeah, meeting online friends for the 1st time IRL can be surreal in a very good way! Like it almost feels like a dream, haha. Hope you get to meet more people, if the opportunity comes! :D
As for my new years resolutions, I'd say a few of mine are just focusing more on my personal big projects I keep holding off, getting back into learning animation, the dating thing you've mentioned and just being more social on Twitter and stuff. (Heh and sorry MY reply was long, I can be really talkative some days!)
I'll have to look into those cons :O. Ive heard the same thing about some of the bigger cons possibly being a bit overwhelming for those that might not be used to 'em. So something small seems appropriate. I hear there tends to be a couple smaller local ones in the Texas area so i'll have to try searching around for those as well.
Procrastination is definitely something i need to work on as well that i forgot to put on here xD. I guess that tends to be a fairly common one though haha. And being more social never hurts. Its how ive managed to meet all the awesome peeps over the years i have :). No worries about the long reply, means you were interested in having something to say so at least it makes me feel like ppl are actually interested in my little ramblings lol
2016 sucked for me personally. 'nuf said there. (not looking for sympathy)
I don't make resolutions. May some of your plans for 2017 actually happen.
Not counting a couple of Maine Fur gatherings, I've met 4 other furs in RL, Betsy, Tonyasong, Bunnyhugger and her husband, Austindern. I've known Bunnyhugger for over 20 years due to the old devilbunnies writing group.
And 20 years!? Man thats a long time to know someone in this fandom lol. It's good that you have kept up with each other more or less for all that time
