Recovery - Take 2...
Well I have spent the last several days with a drainage tube in my back and IVs of antibiotics. The surgeon said that my pain was from the infection and not the disk re-herniating.
The details are kinda complicated and I don't pretend to understand all of them. I'm gonna need to be on antibiotics for several weeks. They put a PIC line in me yesterday and I'll be shown how to give myself the antibiotics.
The staff at the hospital thought I would be going home yesterday, but the people putting together the antibiotics had me set to receive an IV bag that takes 24 hours to administer. So I'll get out today sometime.
I can finally walk again, using a walker. The BIG thing that I was happy for was getting the drainage tube out. There was just NO comfortable way to lay down with that thing in.
Things got a bit interesting though. PT had me go up and down stairs to make sure I could. They then had me sit down in the chair in the room. I was happy to be able to sit for awhile, rather than be stuck laying down. The staff came in to remove the drainage tube and said I could stand or lay down. I figured I could just stand with the help of the walker and then sit back down in the chair.
Pulling out the tube, I got VERY lightheaded and lost much of my hearing. I managed to keep myself awake while they slapped a bandage on my back and got me back onto the bed. Right away they checked my blood pressure, 74 over 40. After about 20 minutes I was back to normal levels.
So that is about all I have right now. Not a whole lot to do when you are stuck in a bed.

Yay healing! Glad to hear it wasn't a repeat hernia and just the infection. Now just to kick that freeloading infection's ass.
