Paypal has also been very convenient for me.

Notes here on FA, or emails have worked well for me when dealing with artists (email may be easier to keep organized).
While skype would be great for actualy trying to explain details and bounce your idea with the artist its also quite messy.
Adding a ton of people to your skype, language barriers and what not... so yeah my own pref is notes or email ^^

Notes, or Telegram is nice too.. It is pretty useful to be able to chat back and forth about the commission faster. I like it that was as a commissioner and as an artist.

I like notes, emails are fine too, skype/telegram I like less just because I prefer not add people just to get a commission on those, on the other hand a back and forth conversation is faster and easier than a slow note/email back and forth. I can't do stream commissions though, I have really bad anxiety in streams for some reason and I can't stay in one for very long.

I'm fine with paypal and it's the only one I've used so far, but I've heard of plenty of other decent money sharing services I'd be willing to use.

Personally I think that notes on here are the easiest, with email as an alternate/secondary means of contact~

For me I only use Paypal, it's something that I think most people will know and be happy to use, so I don't think that is much of an issue for me~ Offering alternate options may be a plus, but I'll always prefer Paypal.

Things I don't like though is when an artist only offers commissions through streams, for me personally I can be shy so it's harder for me to ask for commishes that way... it's far better for me to be able to write out my idea in a note or email~

I usually prefer to order through notes, with payment via paypal. It is a case of "I found the artist via FA, and want to keep our transaction there a much as possible."

I prefer email over just about anything else, as it allows me to get notified more easily when I get a response.
FA (or other art site) notes are okay, but not my favorite.
I like Telegram/Skype/IM for hammering out details of a commission if needed. Streaming's good for this too, but I can't always be around for a stream.
As for payment, PayPal and Square are the providers I've used before and they're fine. I don't mind trying other services as long as they take credit cards.

Personally, I prefer notes or email. I've not minded artists that use a website with a form either. I'm not a fan of Skype as that can get a little to personal, for some folks, unless you make a skype just for business purposes. I don't have any experience with Telegram though it seems to be popular, not a service I can/will use though. Definitely nothing wrong with having in-stream commissions either.

You had a similarly worded journal a month or so ago but my advice is to not limit yourself to any 1 portal of communication. That's really the biggest key. Be available to do as many different things as possible and you broaden your ability to take commissions from a wider audience.

I have never had an issue with PayPal but I've known folks that have and are banned from its services ... not sure how to go around some of that really. If that is the case, I don't have a clue how else you'd do business. I know there are a couple other services like Google Wallet or w/e but I don't know how they work. Perhaps money order via snail mail or something? Definitely don't do cash via mail, maybe checks but I think money orders are safest.

honestly email is a great way to order art and keep everything organized but FA is my main go to since this is the main art forum I browse

I avoid artists that have a no refund policy and only pay through PayPal services (no money to friend /family)

i cant use paypal so i really wish there was an alternative, but i also see why most artists do paypal only since the services usually take a cut when you try to get the money from them to your bank account and why pay 2 cuts to 2 companies. on through what medium i use for ordering: whatever the artist prefers not really feeling like one is better or worse for me personally

I also use square, which is a service for taking credit cards. I haven't had a chance to take any orders with it yet , though lol

first time i see that service, if you wanna we can test it out together :3 once you got a slot open for a sketch or something

Oh I would love, when more artists would offer to take commissions per Telegram.
You don't get any push-notification on FA and Telegram is more personal. Sometimes I like to chat with the artist aside of commissions.

I prefer email because it's easier to keep track of, plus it's better for ref links and such. FA notes are fine, too, but they're kinda cumbersome, and if FA goes down, you can't access them.

I like Paypal well enough. I've never had any problems with it, and it makes it easy to manage the money.
