Shmorky was one of those people that I honestly kind of looked up to. Self taught animator who got to where he was by just shitting around with some people on an internet forum. I really didn't know much about who he personally was, only that he was apparently built like a brick shithouse. It kind of sucks when you find out that someone that you used to think so highly of turns out to be the kind of person he proved himself to be.

I think there's nothing wrong with finding artistic inspiration from someone problematic. Looking at Shmorky's work, I can see many things I like.

I never knew Shmorky.
I knew SandyPants though and have at least one animation commission from them.
I never had any bad interactions or issues with Sandy, so I don't know what to think...

Granted... I'm digital only, so it's not like I ever actually met or know anyone really... ^_^;
But yeah, dunno what to think about this if true that someone I got art from could have been a less than reputable artist?

Yeah Sandy never gave me any trouble. She paid up front and was never super picky about things. She was fine as a customer and obviously had talent as an animator.

I wouldn't expect anyone to feel bad about it, considering we could only judge her on how she interacted with us. We're not psychics.

I know of smorky In fact I was a fan of his stuff for a while, until learning some of the more unsavory thing about em.

Another case admiring the art but disliking the artist.

I remember sandypants. A long time ago on an older account I watched them and really enjoyed some of their work. I never commissioned them or knew much about them, but I remember enjoying the art style.

I have no idea what this journal is even talking about though. Who is Shmorky? Why are people so upset with whoever this is?

I dug how Shmorky was able to pull off fluent animation and lip syncing so well, not so much his weird phase of trying to look 30 years younger than he really is and making his voice as obnoxious as humanly possible...
Regardless it's still a real shame that his latest scandal may hurt his chances of finding future work, he could have been like every animator with being able to have their own cartoon on the air untill they get into a fight with the studios and are left doing small time jobs like animating a music video or something.

Considering how long he was able to hide his identity under Sandy, he could be fine if he just totally came back as another person.

That would require him taking a long hard look at how he treats people, and that may be too much for him to do.

I'm almost certain I saw some of his animation in a few adult swim bumps, so he might have been in the rafters already.
I don't know what the latest controversy is, I just remember schmorky from cyd/something awful and was kind of shocked at where he/she's wound up... wasn't even really a fan of his animation to be honest but it became common enough to sort of represent SA for a while. Always liked purple pussy (?) though.

I just looked into this and.... sakes, I don't even know what to say. I'm skeptical because of the sources of this information. And I never liked that Lowtax guy.

Then again I only ever knew of Shmorky through their comics, for like.... forever now. So I am pretty far away from any of this. I might to let this simmer in my head for a little while.

Okay, I just read up on Schmorky and..... yeah Schmorky's character is questionable, but judging from your side of the story he doesn't sound like 100% scum of the earth material. If he can hide his identity better and no one knows about it, then we'd all be hunky-dory. Besides, most of your interactions appear business oriented, so I guess that's a different side of that person which is tolerable. I'd prefer to move on with life and forget what Schmorky did and look forward to what he can do in the near future which will be beneficial to everybody.

I know a few people who have been harassed because of the Shmorky debacle simply for being friendly to them and/or one of their alleged alts. Apparently, it is not enough that the guilty has been found out, apparently everyone who has ever said "hi" to them or been nice to them must also be purged.

You're gonna get those types when this shit happens, it's annoying. Not much to be done to prevent it, either.

Nope. People go on witch hunts not just because they want to see someone punished (whether or not they're actually guilty being something of an afterthought), but also because it helps reassure them of their own righteousness.

The good thing about this sssssscandal is that it reminds me of all the cool people that ran in the second-string Furluminati club. It's too bad that they're all dead now.

I guess that's why Sandypants had that really specific painty art style. Makes it hard to connect the two.

I've known some epic level artists who were so skilled they could have easily chosen a particular art style for a particular online identity, and a completely different style for another. And keep them separate. I'm a bit envious of that, really.

It's really bizarre that some people are trying SO HARD to dig up shit that they are resorting to watchlists, connections of all sorts (friends, not friends, mutuals, ect)or mentions to try and find something amazing or working with the narrative of conspiracy. Half of the info out there was widely known or isn't even an issue, then you have the gag worthy gross stuff that is a legitimate concern due to implications of real young people being involved. The harassment is getting pretty intense for parties totally not involved =\ .

It's just sad people have to come out and be as vocal as fucking possible to not get harassed because they didn't know, MOST PEOPLE didn't know. Me and nim sure as fuck didn't and totally watched sandypants because of the animation quality, humor and non threatening persona. I never really watched much of Schmorky's stuff either, despite knowing who they were and some of the circle they knew (know?) so while this whole clusterfuck is surprising, it's not exactly devastating. The source is shady as hell and I'm trying not to look too deeply, or I'll start going crosseyed.

Just wish people would chill and maybe try not to ruin other humans lives so freely. Hurgh I'm just so bluegh about it.

So wait, does that mean the whole "Shmorky is a pedophile" thing is based solely on the stuff they openly posted as Sandy and/or Peaches? Or is there something even worse that was also dug up?
