Accidentally Downloaded a Virus and am Nuking My Computer
8 years ago
Hello everyone.
This message is specifically for the people who commissioned me.
I was being dumb yesterday and managed to introduce a bunch of Malware onto my computer, ruining it in a number of ways.
After about 7 or so hours of trying to go through the process of removing the various things that got installed on my computer, quarantining the threats, and trying to remove all the garbage and gain access to my regular functionality again, I just decided to give my computer a factory reset.
At 6 or 7 years old, the computer had hundreds of gigabytes of junk on it anyway, so a reset would be good for it anyway.
What this means unfortunately is that for the next day or two, my computer is useless and will not have any drivers or photoshop, so I'll be unable to work on the commissions I promised. I will only be delayed a few days, but its still an inconvenience.
I sincerely apologize for giving myself a nasty virus the day after accepting commissions.
I'll be back to normal and ready to begin the list of commissions a day or two from now once I have my computer functioning again.
Thank you for understanding,
TruNorth (written on his phone)

Unfortunately the Malware removed all restore points before the introduction of the Malware itself.
Goodluck I hope this doesn't set you back too much :3
+ Very effective antivirus, blocks websites that would otherwise cause you to download malware (it's better than you're thinking), quarantines threats and dangers, allows you to browse through and delete, can be turned off easily (manually), updates automatically with the start of each new scan (So you should be scanning fairly often)
- Requires manual updates, costs money
Thank you!

In my own experience, restore points don't even work. I don't have it turned on on my machine.
This will only delay me a few days but I haven't lost anything!
I'll likely get Malwarebytes first thing and keep it once my computer is up again.
