If you have to ask....

... then it's too many? I don't really keep track of the artists I watch, usually I'll favorite one of their pieces and watch them as well because I like their art style. Other times they'll have a link to their FA from their tumblr and/or twitter, so I'll watch them here and on tumblr and/or twitter. Because of this, I've accumulated 180 profiles that I'm following on twitter, 970 blogs on tumblr and 3,525 users on furaffinity.

Well, as a self obsessed narcissist I am happy with the bare minimum, one. But it sounds to me like you are most gregarious and friendly. Is that awesome or what?

I'd like to think it's awesome because I get to surround myself with so much art from many different artists every day ^^

Which is why all of us are on sites like this. I been kicked off enough of them to know the truth in that!

I just watch as many as I can manage paying attention to. If you can keep up, I don't see why not watch as many folks as you'd like!

In all seriousness, there is no true cap to following people. It is all personal preference and subjective. You can follow as little as one person or as many as a billion, if you want - no one is gonna judge or stop ya'. Sure, your submission and journal notifications are going to be high all the time. I mean, I'm following a little over 500 people, and I can't even keep up with mine, lol. Does that mean I'll stop following people? Probably not. In the end, it is all up to you and what you'd like to do.}
