Why Furart/Furries tho?
I've come to ask myself this question and I even have answers.
Except that these answers aren't ultimately satisfying for me.
But before I'm going to explain myself I'd like to say that I'm interested in
your opinion as far as you want to share it.
1: That it would be missing out on the opportunity of illustration/art to just
draw human characters whenever the motif calls for characters, so why
not try something that doesn exist in reality like anthropomorpic non-humans.
Anything else is just a suboptimal version of a photograph.
2: It's still more interesting than drawing/designing human characters,
because when I see a human character I'm immediately going to think
"oh its just an alternative look for just another template that I'm already
familiar with" so why bother? Thats also the reason why silhouette cuts
become more and more useful, despite just proving the point further.
My personal reason though was that I always found it odd to draw adult art
with humans because I would always subconciously fear that someone
could point out something like "that one looks like [insert name]" or deprive me
of the control over the fact that any potential viewer of my art should not
feel unintentionally personal about it.
Now, why I do feel not satisfied with these answers despite being logically okay,
is because its not much different with furry characters than it is with human characters,
despite still having more potential to avoid those issues, theres now this huge fandom
and with that many iterations of the same thing again.
The problem I start to feel is not the lack of originality, but its a looming staleness,
so I'm figuring that it's time for me to try to think about more refreshing ideas
and do something I haven't done yet. Which was something that I was always fascinated
about in the art cureboltium does, because ,at least in some artworks, he would try
to play around with surreal and abstract ideas and the erotic/adult themes never
felt to me like they were in the focus except just being there imbuing some kind of
genuinety (is that a word?) which makes it so great in my opinion.
That might mean that theres not always going to be furry art when I upload in the future,
but it wont be completely gone either.
Personally, that's something that I personally believe that almost every artist should do. Or in other words, "step out of your comfort zone" when it comes to art, so that way you have more variety and a better idea of what your art style would eventually be.
If I'm a bit off from what you're actually meaning, feel free to correct me :P
Of course trying new things should be something any artist should strive for, but I'm not forgetting that there are also those who need to baseline mainstream their art because thats how they make their living and might not find the time and or energy to do that regularly.
