My characters belong to ME ! DO NOT USE !
As much as I understand not wanting your art/characters to be used by others without your consent, it seems so futile and counter-productive to me. It's going to happen whether you want it or not, in whatever dank cavern of the internet. More importantly, following the logic that 'it's mine ! No touchy', you implicitly destroy any sort of fan-creation.
Fan-fiction. Fan art. Porn. Mockery. As long as it uses art that belongs to someone or some company, it can be erased if they will it. It's already the case, obviously, how many tumblr blogs have been deleted on behalf of Nintendo ? How many fan-games have been struck with DMCAs ? Can you imagine if everyone suddenly became super-protective of their IP's ? I hate the thought of it.
So make up whatever rules you feel like for art/character ownership, it's your deal. You own it. But if you're okay with receiving fan-art, if you okay with people drawing famous characters in porn or whichever way they feel like expressing themselves through existing IP's, then you should be okay for randos to use your character in creepy roleplay sessions. It's like fan-fiction, but shit. Or shitter.
Obviously, it's all easy for me to say. I've nothing to lose by having my art or characters be used in ways I don't like (not that they are used anyway). I'm not one to project myself in my creations. It's not a piece of me that people are twisting into their fantasies, other might see their art/characters that way, as a personal expression, they're not owned by big company to be sold to the masses. I do get why it can hurt and why you'd try your best to get rid of that and I wouldn't condemn anyone for it.
I get why everyone would want some grip on their creations, be it for emotional or economical reasons. Still I hate seeing this double-standard permeating so much of the artwork I see. "Don't use my characters !" or "ask me first to draw fan-art !", yet on the same page seeing picture of famous characters. Bitch, please. You're no more special than whoever first created the character you didn't bother asking permission to draw, so choose a standard and stick to it, if you double that shit then your principles are lacking and you're full of piss.
That was my ramble for the day. Back to fondling my pens inappropriately.

FA+

But otherwise, fair point!
If it applies to the famous it should apply to the layman and vice versa. Sonic is just as much a trusted creation as any sona is, it just got popular and became a brand icon.
What about the dirty fan art of lets say a famous person or youtuber. Wouldnt it be extreamly awkward feeling. But its something that they cant stop and its gunna happen regaurdless. Even if that stuff isnt posted its still drawn. Cant stop that being done either.
I mean.. Dont get me wrong the characters people create for themselves or of themselves is a part of them and people taking their character and using it in situations they do not wish them to be in because it feels like they are basically being violated. Which is understandable.
I approve of your journal.
The only part I would argue is monetary. If I'm still alive, and someone monetizes my creation's likeness and is profiting off my exact idea, I take issue with that. I think if the creator is alive any monetization should be given a percent to him or her. Once they die, that should end copyright though. The whole "corporations own it" or "their family owns it" is total horse hockey.
