Nintendo Switch and Lego Games (Life Update)
I'm really not sure about the Nintendo Switch, to be brutally honest with you. I've been enlightened a little further about the whole battery life thing, and as long as I just play it at home, I should have all the battery life I need, so that's not the thing I'm worried about. The thing I am worried about is the games and the price of the console. I would rather see how this weird thing does first, because even though I have my doubts and I think it might fail, Nintendo has surprised me in the past. I actually didn't think the Wii would sell or even be usable because of how the controller looked, but look how wrong my ass was on that one! ...that being said, I wouldn't get your hopes up too high unless you like the idea of being massively disappointed. Stay positive, but wary.
And if you already pre-ordered it, I wish you the best of luck if it turns out to be hot garbage after launch day. Just saying. And if it doesn't? ...Breath of the Wild. That's the game I want.
Finally, the reason why I have the words "Lego Games" in the journal title. I've been playing a lot of Lego Games developed by Traveler's Tales, (FYI, they made Sonic 3D Blast and Sonic R), and one game that really got me to like them again is Lego Harry Potter: Years 5-7. I really thought it wouldn't, because I didn't like the first Lego Harry Potter very much, and frankly, I thought their bugs were terrible and overlooked back in those years. Also I despise their Lego Star Wars games entirely and want nothing to do with them anymore (and I won't explain why if you ask). However, Lego Harry Potter: Years 5-7 proves to be amazing and pretty much what the first game should've been; better level design, less finnicky transitions from one place to another, and better-placed hidden collectibles. That being said, I hate Super Bonus Levels with a passion, so I will no longer do them even once I find all the Gold Bricks I need, but my point is that the journey to getting all the Gold Bricks and everything else is much better in my opinion. Especially if the game can be this great. Having tried the later Batman games and Lego Lord of the Rings, I can easily see where it gets better and better from here.
Honestly, even though their programming is still slightly off in some places, they just gave the hell up on Lego Pirates of the Caribbean (it keeps crashing incessantly so I gave up too), their Super Bonus Levels are annoying as hell, and some parts of their games are honestly kind of frustrating and probably should've been thought out a little better, I love these Lego games, and I may play them well into the future, barring some exceptions. As for whether or not I'll get Lego Dimensions on that note? ...sure, why not. Skylanders has left a bitter taste in my mouth when I hear the term "NFC Game," but this game has already basically proven to me how fun an NFC game can be without ruining a franchise while it's at it. While I don't agree with the price of the Starter Pack...I don't know how this shit works anyway, so the pack may have upped the price a bit due to its technology, anyway. And no, I will not play Skylanders. I already want to play one NFC game. I don't want to ruin my financial life with another. That being said, it would be pretty useful if I had a container of some kind for these things...like some kinda toybox or small safe.
Speaking of Lego, LOVED the movie, got the movie's game, I think the movie's game will be awesome, plus I have high hopes for the Lego Batman movie and the Lego Movie sequel! ...less so for the sequel, but hey, anything is possible. Also, even though literally all of the character packs for Lego Dimensions look cool, I might not buy them all, because I don't use every single character in a Lego game. Plus it costs too much to do that. In fact, my go-to Digger/Pet character might be Scooby-Doo. Oh, and you BETTER believe I'm getting the Sonic level pack. I'm a pretty huge Sonic fan, so I can't pass that up. Besides, I already kinda spoiled myself on the final boss fight anyway, and this is actually a very well done level pack.
