First off, I am glad I played Xenoblade, since this much open world in a Zelda game is extremely mind boggling.
Now, overall, having finished the prologue, Nintendo definitely did something pretty great with this one. That said, getting used to everything is taking a lot of time.
Also, I fucking hate Ocktoroks, I really fucking hate them. Like seriously.

also if you want to make things harder as soon as you get the quest to free the beasts go to the gerudos in the southwest and after the first boss you beat doing that the nightmare will start at night most nights
