The title is a Japanese phrase that is hard to translate, it translates as "What the hell", "Who Cares" "Why not?" It was prominent in the late 1860s when the Tokogawa Shogunate was beginning to lose its grip on power in the aftermath of Western nations slowly encroaching on them. Many people reacted to Who cares, why don't we just take our clothes off and have sex on the street? Many danced on the streets and had sex as well, mostly as a form of social protest against the rapid change they're going through and also a new feeling of freedom since laws in Tokugawa Japan were quite strict so for a small window of time people went crazy.
It's basically the Japanese way of saying "fuck it". So...I'm trying to say, I want to disengage from politics and the state of our country for now cause with Bush or Obama, like them or hate them, at least the issues they brung up happened with space in between, you got one issue to focus on and move on to the next. Though this crazy administration is just one crazy thing to a bad thing one after another and it just became overwhelming and I'm stressing out over it, so now I'm just at the point of fuck it,. My parents left their countries for a better life elsewhere, perhaps I should follow my parent's footsteps. Though I want to go back to educating history and the like as I usually do. I might engage back again when there's an impeachment or a resolution, or something really major, but otherwise it's just insane that's going on now, apparently they don't like intellectuals or facts or studies what have you, so I say fuck it, I'm done for now. I'd favor academics over any know nothing, I know it sounds like a bit of elitism, but hey might as well let anyone fly an aircraft, without any qualification whatsoever and see how well that goes.
Anyway, life updates, well, I've mostly been focused on working, studying, and thinking of where I'm gonna live after I leave my parent's place, I'm going to visit a close friend in NY in just over a week and will be gone for 4 days, and I'm left with a couple choices, each with their pros and cons, but it all comes down to where I can get a decent paying job after I get my degree I worked for so long for and really just want to get it over with, I have two more months and just getting through Mid Terms, so hopefully everything will turn out fine.Otherwise, I'm hoping things will be alright and I'll be working on starting my independent life, it's definitely going into the unknown and feel sorta unprepared but things are going to be changing fast in the coming months, my life will change, though the next question would be who ill be sharing this new life with, I have yet to decide on, only time will tell and I pray to God for my first steps to be independent, that I'll be making a decent enough choice, no doubt, I'll need His guidance.
In other news since taking this Japanese history class, I've been immersing myself in Japanese culture if you haven't noticed by now and it's pretty cool, and I like taiko drums :P

I however cannot turn away from what is happening, I feel it is too vital to know what is going and what trump and his shady associates are up to. I still believe there is hope things can be turned around. There is going to be a lot of damage done and decades of progress lost indeed, but a REAL president who can fix this disaster step by step after the fact is still worth fighting for in 2020. For now, it's just brace for impact, keep educating each other, and god willing, we have a country left in the end to work and try to save.
Btw, the idea of a Canadian calling Americans cowards is kind of laughable given the far larger and indispensable role we've played in fighting wars against regimes that threatened to destroy the western world. Your weak country wouldn't stand a chance against a real threat without us.
Don't worry though. Most talk about emigrating to Canada is based on empty words.
I'm not sure leaving for another country will fix anything. Nothing's going to change if the smart and daring up and leave. Not to mention, folks out there have got it far worse than us. If this is our cross to bear, then let's bear it and endure.
Thanks for sharing the vid. I'm keen to Japanese culture too. I wouldn't mind owning a shamisen.
Your life is also improving. You're going to get your degree soon, get on with your life, and advance closer to your goals. You're far better off at your age than I was under the Obama administration so chill out.
That said - job growth, stock market and improving economy don't seem to be factors that are attributed solely to a new administration. I would imagine some of that is due to the administration that sat in office just a few months ago.
Trump reversed what Obama had done to the Mexico City policy so we are no longer using tax payer dollars to fund abortions abroad. I support the construction of the Keystone pipeline so we have that. We have the amply qualified Neil Gorsuch as a Supreme Court justice. Trump acted decisively, strategically, and strongly in the attack on the Syrian airbase. Again, there are many things Trump has done that I do not support and his administration has demonstrated a fair amount of incompetence but most of the really stupid things he's tried to do have been mitigated by the institutions we have in place. And I will give him credit where it is due when he has done something I support.
I disagree with you about the Obama administration's policies being largely responsible for the economy. We had the slowest and weakest recovery in recent US history under the Obama administration and even now our growth rate is pathetic. It's normal for our economy to bounce back after recessions or depressions but under Obama we never had a real bounce back. It was more like we slowly crawled out of it and sit just past the rim of the hole, dangerously close to falling back in again. And most of the economic gain we had was during that last couple years of his presidency when Republicans had complete control over congress and actually cut the deficit two years in a row for the first time since the Eisenhower administration. So no, I can't really give the Obama administration sole credit for the small climb upward we are experiencing. I will give it credit for not making things worse than they have been.
I said that I'm not inspired by what I've seen or read on the people put into office + the healthcare plans + congress' tactics. Never did I claim the ACA is great as is, just that the proposed plan didn't seem to be promising. I'll take your word for it on the Republican congress' achievements for the economic growth. I really haven't paid substantial attention to developments in the middle east to judge what I feel or think is the right action to take, there.
- The reversal of the Mexico City policy is a good thing because we are no longer using tax-payer money to fund abortions abroad. That's good for our economy and humanity.
- I think we should eliminate all government funding of the arts and PBS. It's not the job of the tax payer to fund such things and it's dangerous to expressive freedom. Whatever the government funds it can control and I don't want Uncle Sam acting as a commissar of art, telling us what art and information we ought to support and which we ought not support which by extension is a form of censorship. PBS is mostly privately funded anyway and the best artistic endeavors have been produced through private support.
- Cutting regulations on business can be a good thing if the right regulations are cut. I have yet to see evidence that Trump has done anything that will dramatically impact the quality of our environment and I'm on the fence when it comes to climate change legislation. Time will tell on this one.
- The appointment of Neil Gorsuch is the single best thing that has come out of Trump's presidency because we have a superb justice filling the vacant seat of the Supreme Court.
- I want our military beefed up so that both our nation and the world in general will be a safer place.
These are some things that Trump has done that I support and believe are good for the country.
I hope you won't leave america because I'll miss you(and I do love you)
I've tried to convince other people that simple change to dollar coins($1 and $2) could save us billions of dollars(between 4-13 billion is a conservative estimate the real savings could be double even tripled)
I would love to get more support and exposure here on FA
