I've heard people suggest things like "rent a partner" services, and the general agreement is that it's really not productive at all - you're not going to make money off it. Really, you're better off telling people you don't RP.

As someone who's been a roleplayer in the furry community for several years I can tell you that you need to draw the line somewhere with RP requests. You have people who want you to write their fetish-specific smut for them on-demand, and they don't want to put in any work. You have people who want to talk about fetish ideas and story concepts, but they may not ever produce anything themselves. You have people who just want to cozy up because you write smut they like. Not every person is a quality partner and not every person wants to RP because it's fun or collaborative writing.

At the end of the day no one is going to pay for RP from anyone. People who ask you to RP all the time are moochers. Tell 'em it costs $10 and they'll never speak to you again.

I honestly wouldn't mind having poor RP partners as I'm the one providing the service and they can't be expected to take lead of an RP. I like to think of it somewhat like hypnosis sessions, etc, where they don't have to put in a lot of work (which is how it is almost all the time) XD

A friend of mine brought up RP-for-rent once, and only once, because people genuinely don't commission writing. They don't want to pay for RP either - essentially, it's a case of "Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free?"

You can give it a go, and maybe people looking for your specific brand of fetish will consider it. It's just not something I see a lot of people not doing it at all.

I can see why u might feel ur getting used but not sure I would charge either. I've been trying to get back into writing and I like rping at work when things are slow.

Open to the idea of colbrative writing or maybe charging to flush out an RP into a story for half of the normal cost of a standard story might be do able if u can find people that u click with and their ligit doing half the work.

Hard to find good dom. rpers into the raunchy aspects of tf which is probably part of it.

Personally I've learned to multitask while rping during slow times of interaction. Also u could do rps for free and just respond when able while working on other stuff. I dont think people would be upset if ur up front about it. I typically dont run into issues.

I've seen some people that do charge for Rp's, amount is usually based on hours/complexity of subject/how many words/your own flexibility on the subject. If you're feeling used then I'd say dont feel afraid to brooch the subject of charging for it, specially since then you'll know what you're getting into, and both parties generally feel better about it since they can just be upfront about what they want from you, and you get $$$ in exchange.

If you aren't getting anything out of roleplaying, then you probably shouldn't roleplay with that (or those) particular people, regardless of whether or not you're being paid. But, the thing about paying you to write them a story still is valid. I think the problem you're encountering is more of the 'I'm gonna pretend to roleplay so you write me a story' type people. You can probably weed them out by forcing your partner to be the dom, at least once, to 'prove' themselves. SSorry if this comes off as rude or whatnot, that's not intended. :p

Well tbh I'm kinda thinking of it being less of an RP thing and more like I'm dungeon master kind of deal. Couldn't think of anything better to describe it than RP.

Oh! In that case, you might be able to try that. I haven't really tackled that sort of thing, so it'd be better to get someone's opinion who's done dungeons and dragons 'n whatnot.

Ever since I started writing a bit, I've noticed the same thing. Before, I would RP for fun sometimes, but now when I RP, I realize that could have been 2k added to my commission, just in one session. The difference between the two is that I don't do all the work in an RO, while I do the story. In addition, I can RP, game and read while with a commission I can only write.

I do not roleplay with people that I don't have fun with, and I don't roleplay with people who aren't my friends. I wouldn't charge a friend for roleplay, because I do it for enjoyment of myself and him, and I like him outside the roleplay. I wouldn't roleplay as a service, because that seems liable to abuse.
