I am back with another journal entry.
I was able to finally sit down and write one of these entries again. I have to admit that January was not a good month for me. Yeah I went to FC and there was some fun there and met a new friend or two there. But FC otherwise was an unmitigated disaster. Financially my wife and I probably shouldn't have gone. Mentally I didn't really feel like going because I had to work very hard in the 2 months prior just to have the money to go and so that made me crabby. I still also know very few people at FC as it is now. All my old friends from there, or most of them, have moved on to other things or other places. Right after FC, the wife and I moved to another place. If you know our living situation then this made it many times worse.
This was stressing me out more than anything at the time and made it hard to be a nice person. But then a glimmer of hope appeared out of no where. A couple of friends started talking to me about going back to being a trucker again. They even had a person that could be my co-driver. We started talking and in the 2nd week of February I was in a rental car headed across the country to Georgia for a new job. I had a stop for a day in San Antonio, Texas to pickup my co-driver.
Since I got back behind the wheel and on the road again, life has finally started to become better. I love being on the road and am glad I took the leap of faith to go back out there again. Right now I am relaxing on home time. I am actually writing this journal from a hotel so my wife and I could have a couple days alone together and have ourselves a mini-vacation here in San Diego.
So with all that being said I have a few questions for all of you. First off, how many of you are truck drivers? How many of you are company drivers? How many of you would try being a team driver?
Second is how many of you live in the following places: Salt Lake City, Utah; Portland, Oregon; Seattle, Washington; or San Jose, California. If you have also lived in or near these places you count as well. What's it like? Give me the pros and cons of the area. If you like living there or liked living there write for me a sales pitch selling me on your selected town. I am in the process of trying to nail down where I want to relocate because I am facing facts. I don't want to stay in San Diego and I hate it here. My wife knows this as well and wants to move too.
Here is what I hate about San Diego. First is that its expensive. Expensive in every way possible. California is expensive by nature for no good reason. They have high taxes here. The rent is expensive. It will take me years to afford to buy a house here. I am miles away from most of the people here in politics, beliefs, etc.
Judging by that you that live in San Jose know you have a tough sell on your hands, but try your best. This area doesn't work well for my job or for my prospects to turn it into a business venture by leasing or owning a truck. The other areas, including around San Jose are much more acceptable for my line of work.
The people that give the best pitch that helps lead me to the city I move to will get free hugs as a guarantee if they want them. They may also be eligible for a free drink or even a free dinner from me if all goes well. Help me find where this arctic fox will feel at home.

FA+

Pros:
+ Recognizable name
+ TWO local furry conventions (FC and Pac Anthro!)
+ VTA (transit) will pretty much take you anywhere in the city without having to deal with traffic yourself
+ You're in range of the "trendy" stuff (Uber, Dine & Dash, et al)
+ If SJ prices aren't your thing, you can move into one of the "cheaper" communities (Campbell, Saratoga, Mountain View, Santa Clara, Milpitas) and still be within a light drive of San Jose.
Cons:
- SJPD sucks, depending on where you are crime is rampant (stay out of East Side after 10!)
- San Jose is a big place. And being a big place means traffic. And stupid drivers.
- Unless your last name is Asian or "Singh", the locals will fuck with you for funsies
- San Jose prices. It's second to San Fran and LA.
- "I want Chinese!" "Okay, WHICH Chinese?" "Which ones are there?" "There's...*36 hours later, you're both dead, and you haven't even gotten through half of the listings yet*"
- People have literally gotten killed supporting either "local" team.
